People's Choice Awards 2013

Tonight’s People’s Choice Awards were the usual award show fare, but what makes these awards different from the ones that follow soon are that these are all voted for by the fans, not peers. Having said that, the show opened with the statement that more people voted for these than voted in November. I will let that pass without judgment or comment, however tempted I am to do so.

There were several awards that I cheered:

Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show: Supernatural
-- To which I say, yippee and well deserved!
Favorite TV Fan Following: SPNFamily of Supernatural
-- Very, very cool.

Favorite TV Crime Drama: Castle
-- Although, we didn’t get to watch the win.
Favorite Dramatic TV Actor: Nathan Fillion, who just confirmed that he is my favorite guy because he brought his big brother as his date.
-- To be completely honest, the other four nominees were Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, so this one was going to make me happy any way it went.

And, I was very pleased that Sandra Bullock was given a Humanitarian Award. This woman does an enormous amount of charity work, so well deserved.

The other awards and their winners are:

Favorite Movie: The Hunger Games
Favorite Movie Actor: Robert Downey, Jr.
Favorite Movie Actress: Jennifer Lawrence
Favorite Movie Icon: Meryl Streep.
-- What I liked about this category was that all five nominees were women.

Favorite Action Movie: The Hunger Games
Favorite Action Movie Star: Chris Hemsworth
Favorite Face of Heroism: Jennifer Lawrence.
-- Again, I will pass judgment on the name of this award.

  2. The People's Choice Awards has to be one of the weirdest awards shows. I like that the voting allows more of our kind of stuff to get in (Castle, Vampire Diaries), but it also allows really stupid stuff to win. Adam Sandler? REALLY? Even after Jack and Jill?

  3. Adam Sandler? ADAM SANDLER?????

Still ysy for True Blood, The Big Bang Theory and The Hunger Games, and a shame the Vampire Diaries vote for dramatic TV actor got split!

  4. I think my most exciting moment of the PCAs was seeing Jensen and Danneel, with Danneel just looking stunning in that dress and heels, whilst pregnant.

Also Robert Downey Jr being RDJ.

  5. Sandra Bullock : well deserved.

Jennifer Lawrence : her work in the H Games impressed me.

Ted & Adam Sandler : massively rolling my eyes. Ted HAD potential but the conventional treatment made it interesting.

Leverage : I talk a LOT about this one. Excellent show.

Chris and Lea : I love these kids from Glee (the rest also). I do NOT consider Glee to be a comedy.
