Nikita: Tipping Point

"Honey, I'm an expert in making people do things with a gun to their head."

Woah. I don't know about the rest of you but that was one incredible twist.

Alex is the evil mastermind? Really? The writers did such an excellent job of distracting us with Michael's hand adventures that I totally forgot Amanda obviously screwed with Alex's brain (literally) and made little miss princess her puppet. It's a genius turn of events and my jaw literally dropped the moment Alex shot Ryan. Obviously they wont kill off Mr. Fletcher. Right...? Nevertheless, that ending was outstanding with Maggie Q's heartfelt speech (beautifully acted) as she sobbed into Michael's newly-restored hand. Wonderful.

Speaking of Michael's hand, I'm surprised he got it back so easily. I was sure he's never actually succeed but I'm willing to let this monumental event slide seeing as how it's the perfect building block for a new kind of antagonist: The Shop. I have to say I'm intrigued by this cutting-edge corporation (robot surgeons, robot cars) and what their plans are. I guess we have our new Big Bad for season four (Amanda can't go on forever after all).

Lyndsy Fonseca seriously did some stunning work this week. It truly felt like Alex had been transformed into a whole new being and I was creeped out by the references to her sex slave past. It makes perfect sense for Amanda to exploit that history and instill a savior complex in Alex with the obvious comparisons (the Division folk are similar to the girls in the brothels). This should be fascinating to watch.

Bits & Bullets

- I kind of liked Alex's lackey Rachel. It's good to put a face to the nameless Division workforce.

- Awesome moment with Nikki kicking the guy through the glass.

- Sean's delayed scream after getting stabbed cracked me up. It felt like such a genuine reaction.

- How brilliant was the fight scene with Nikki sliding under the table and using the explosive? And I loved the doc warning her through the camera.

- Shane West was spectacular in the scene where he regained his hand. The joy and wonder; it was superbly captured.

Nikki Notables

Nikita: So what's your perfect date-night?
Michael: Are you kidding? We're on it - sneak & creepy into a high-security building run by a shadowy organization.

- A twisted and marvelously engaging hour of Nikita.

4 out of 5 hologram doctors.

  1. I am not sure how I feel about this episode or this season in general. Something is off but I can´t put my finger on it. I start to realize that maybe it would have been better to end Nikita with Season 2. The story this season is rather slow and less exciting.

The twist with Alex for me was her shooting Ryan and not that she is the mastermind. Her voice in the beginning when the instructions were given was quite distinctive. I would have preferred that Alex' change would have been come naturally and not because Amanda screwed with her head.

I don't like it that Mikey got his hand back. Too easy and now it makes the whole story and character development he had redundant. Him working his way back to being in the field would have been a better story for me.

But I liked The Shop idea and hope the group Percy approached in Season 3 is behind it. Birkhoff was hilarious with the laptop.

  2. The Micheal's hand story did feed into the loop of Division not trusting the higher ups. Which brought the whole interrogation scene to a head. I'm not shocked that it's Alex, but I'm really pissed off. She and Owen are my favorite characters and they keep getting messed with. Seriously, it looks like next week is Owen goes evil... totally messed up. Now with Alex going evil, I'm this close to giving up on the show. I really dislike Amanda as a villain, she's boring and does stuff that just annoys me. I can't wait for them to kill her off. The Shop seems like a much better antagonist.

  3. I liked the episode in general but... The only way Alex is capable of defying Nikita is if Amanda does something to her brain? Really?

I´m sad because I´m sure Amanda won´t make it to the next season and even when I understand she has to go I´m gonna miss her a lot since she´s my favorite character.

I guess the reason Michael lost his hand on the first place was so he could conveniently win another one from the new and most likely Big Bad for next season.

  5. I agree with Anonymous the First and Kate. I knew it was Alex from the start (who else could it have been?) and was more angry than shocked when she shot Ryan. We've all been saying for a while that someone has to go soon...

The fact that Amanda has so messed with Alex's mind just makes her look weak and, literally, manipulated. I would have much preferred for her to decide to shut down Division on her own.

The hand made me laugh. I agree that the scene where it was restored was good to watch, but it came about a bit too easily.

  6. I think a lot of people overestimate alex. I remember at the beginning of the season 2 and people didn't like how she was being manipulated by a lot of different things and characters . People where even complaining when she lost that fight to nikitas old partner kelly on the train. I just think you have to put it in perspective.
As kick ass as alex is, she is still just a newbie. Despite her training she has only two years experience and she still manages to mix it with people who are both mentally and physically stronger than her. She was going against percy and amanada +n a regular basis and despite being tricked on occasion also won her fair share of mini battles.
She is a flawed character WHICH is why we root for her.
As for amanda, she is the inquisitor and a master of psyops..she is responsoble for producing all the recruits behaviours. Therefore alone with alex for 3days, while she is unaware. I'm surprised alex isn't more messed up.
Anyway for you impatient people episode 17,18,19 are meant to be epic in 'all the way' proportions. Amanda has messed with a lot of minds..Not just alex and owen...

  9. The episode was great but I´m not so sure I like where Alex is going. Not that her actions are out of character but I don´t like it. It makes it hard to like her, I guess.
