Winter 2013-2014 Premiere Schedule

Wallace Stevens said it best:

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
(Wallace Stevens, "The Snow Man")

In other words: behold nothing that is not there, the nothing that is, and the following Winter 2013-2014 schedule of premieres and other notable TV dates.

  1. I'm so jealous that you found that picture before I did! Absolutely love the expression on the cat's face.

    LOL

  4. It looks like the season premiere episode for the The Following is actually airing on Monday, January 27. If I'm interpreting the press release correctly, the thing airing on Sunday, Jan. 19 is some sort of preview special (kind of like they used to do for Lost once in awhile). Then they are going to re-air the special on 1/27 at 8:00 p.m., leading into the premiere episode at 9:00 p.m. (So Almost Human will be on break for two weeks during the Sleepy Hollow finale and The Following premiere weeks.)

Also, a couple additions for those that might be interested: Cougar Town premieres Tuesday, Jan 7 at 10:00 p.m. on TBS, Suburgatory is scheduled to return Wednesday, Jan 15 at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, and The Walking Dead will be back Sunday, Feb 9. Supposedly The Americans will be back in February, too, but they don't have a premiere date yet.

  5. Thank you for the correction, Jess. I saw the "preview" note by the Following date on the calendar I was using, but I'd assumed it was a preview of the second season premiere, not a clip show or whatever.

  6. Yea, the press release was a bit confusing. I had to read it a couple times to figure out what they meant by "preview." (I'm still not sure "clip show" is the right interpretation.) It's possible they just changed it to something different yesterday. I caught the press release because I was looking up Almost Human ratings info, and didn't fully realize that the move to the 27th was very recent news.

  7. Jess, I think the "preview" is the first episode of the second season. From TVLine:

The first episode of The Following‘s second season — which the network deems a “preview” — will air as scheduled on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 10 pm after the NFC Championship Game. The thriller’s official Season 2 premiere, first slated for Jan. 20, will now air at 9 pm on Monday, Jan. 27.

  8. I still think it may be the other thing. Or at least something that isn't an actual episode. Because whatever they are airing on Sunday, the 19th, they are re-airing at 8:00 immediately before the Season 2 premiere at 9:00 on the 27th. Darn these perplexing FOX programmers!

From the 12/6 press release: "The acclaimed thriller starring Kevin Bacon will unveil a special preview Sunday, Jan. 19, immediately after the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (live, 6:00 PM-CC ET), kicking off 15 heart-pounding weeks of uninterrupted episodes. The season premiere of THE FOLLOWING will now air Monday, Jan. 27 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following an encore of the Season Two preview (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)."
