I enjoyed the first three minutes - the Doctor traces the course of Clara's life - and his speech at the end. All else was sound and fury, and signified very little indeed. Disappointed by 'the mummy', and even more so by the Vigil. As the review points out, they looked great and moved imaginatively, but again - like the episode as a whole - added up to nothing.neofishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05544408997541567876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-1199270106271080912013-04-10T18:42:03.573-04:002013-04-10T18:42:03.573-04:00I really liked the choir stuff, though I'm am ...I really liked the choir stuff, though I'm am as ever slightly tired of religions being made up to be knocked down. But otherwise, I agreed with most of what everyone else said I think - though weirdly, I feel like I'm enjoying the show more suddenly. I've no idea why - absence makes the heart grow fonder?!Juliettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00203399623895589924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-84513507252362031312013-04-08T07:17:34.811-04:002013-04-08T07:17:34.811-04:00I actually liked this episode, it was nice to have...I actually liked this episode, it was nice to have a "classic" dr.who episode.
I know it's silly but I wasn't board, I wasn't board because I was afraid they were going to kill Clara *again* , it relay held me at the edge of my seat.
I'm glad she didn't die, also being some what new to the whoverse I was thinking the Doctor was implying that Clare might be his granddaughter, that kept me theorising through the dull quire parts (not a big fan of that, sorry).
All in all for a first episode I enjoyed the familiar grounds, nice ease into a new mysterious companion. from here on lets get the show going.. alonsi!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-33360179006142306052013-04-08T04:43:05.142-04:002013-04-08T04:43:05.142-04:00This episode bored me intensely. I kept thinking that we already saw every single thing in this episode several times before, and it was usually a lot better. During the Doctor's final speech I had to doublecheck that it wasn't Rutger Hauer talking :-)

Also I'm not a big fan of choral singing, so that didn't help.Michal Dvorakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09047652605478282288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-70970643843912266502013-04-08T00:52:33.118-04:002013-04-08T00:52:33.118-04:00After what migmit said, I feel a bit better about ...After what migmit said, I feel a bit better about confessing that I fell asleep and missed the last ten minutes.Billie Douxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17141769005175631213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-68801507305618102332013-04-08T00:49:33.422-04:002013-04-08T00:49:33.422-04:00Dull and boring episode. I really stopped watching at some point and made myself some coffee before watching the rest — usually I'm almost physically unable to do so.migmithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06981055611018991476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-88422458875906234542013-04-08T00:19:07.865-04:002013-04-08T00:19:07.865-04:00From the beginning of season 5 I had thought that ...From the beginning of season 5 I had thought that I didn't like Matt Smith's Doctor. After three episodes with Clara, I realized that it actually wasn't the Doctor I was uncomfortable with, it was Amy. Nice to know :) I love Clara and can't wait to see more of her.

That said, today's episode was a mixed bag. The bazaar was wonderful and I liked the aliens well enough (even though Hooloovoos are supposed to be superintelligent shades of blue, while this one was grey and humanoid), but the story felt a bit uninspired to me. And I cringed through the whole speech at the end.Jennenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-74539473947689079542013-04-07T17:36:36.908-04:002013-04-07T17:36:36.908-04:00I would love to love this episode, except that I c...I would love to love this episode, except that I could hardly hear it...tone down the music! From the overuse of the sonic screwdriver, to the overly familiar story beats, it just felt like it could've been much better done.

And as much as I think Smith's acting is great (and that Moffat's usually had the writers give him great scripts and dialogue to work with) I just feel like it's becoming too much of the same. Too many "I'm the Doctor and I am awesome" speeches, a little bit more hammy overacting than I'm used to from him, etc. I'd like a more toned down, properly emotional, well-developed two-parter please. They need to bring back two-part stories.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17171152477267754603noreply@blogger.com
