They are horrible, but we've seen worse -- even all those years ago.

But, as you point out, Jess, the best part of this episode is Scully's PTSD. And, while we may not think these crimes are particularly horrific, it doesn't matter. What does is that Scully thinks they're horrific and it sends her into a tailspin.

That final embrace is one of my favorite moments of the second season, and among my favorites of the whole series. Mulder, who has been trying to get her to open up throughout, finally gets it to happen simply by touching her. What gets me every single time is when she wraps her arms around Mulder, sobbing. I always, always tear up.

Emerald Green -- LOL.ChrisBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10843864158239536750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-21976734184393949452014-01-08T03:14:10.070-05:002014-01-08T03:14:10.070-05:00Don't worry, it was factually correct, many pe...Don't worry, it was factually correct, many people in the Twin Cities leave their doors unlocked even to this day. I wouldn't recommend going on a crime spree though, there are too many hunters in this state:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12186157498786463712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-64599038516503039722014-01-07T19:44:24.246-05:002014-01-07T19:44:24.246-05:00I thought I was the only one who didn't unders...I thought I was the only one who didn't understand why Scully had such a hard time handling the crimes. Btw, the original script had Donny being a necrophile.lisamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09610682119596522284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-4000274358272291262014-01-07T18:52:51.021-05:002014-01-07T18:52:51.021-05:00I had the same reaction when Scully and others kep...I had the same reaction when Scully and others kept going on about how awful these particular crimes are - especially at the beginning, before they realised Pfaster was murdering fresh victims and it was just dead bodies. It's gross, but if you're already dead, surely that's pretty low on the horrific crimes scale?!

I love this episode though, on of my season 2 favourites. And I think Scully, milder and the audience all really needed that hug. Platonic or otherwise, they're very close and needed some release after the abduction trauma.Juliettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00203399623895589924noreply@blogger.com
