Why was that? I found it a very enjoyable read! I swept through it very fast, couldn't stop myself... even though I had already seen the mini-series!

And now I feel like watching North & South again... :o)

And will probably find myself dreaming of Thornton/Armitage... :pCrazyCrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512240982215608638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-70431347489833519362014-02-18T02:42:07.064-05:002014-02-18T02:42:07.064-05:00I'm so glad you convinced me to watch this! I've watched it about a dozen times since then…You mentioned everything I love about it; I really have nothing to add.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the book. I liked it better than you seemed to, but the miniseries is definitely the more enjoyable and romantic of the two. It did have one of my favorite lines of all time, though: "He passionately loved her, and thought her, even with all her faults, more lovely and more excellent than any other woman." But the ending was DEFINITELY underwhelming.sunbunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08553429350476841139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-54105726607280131862014-02-17T21:55:10.081-05:002014-02-17T21:55:10.081-05:00You have nailed every aspect of the series which i...You have nailed every aspect of the series which is still one of my favorites. I like the fact that the adaptation avoided sentimentality. They also didn't shy away from the controversies of the day - which are, in some ways - the issues we still deal with.

I had never seen Richard Armitage in anything but this is the one that made me fall in love with him. I don't think he has had a better role.

I know what you mean about that scene where the carriage pulls away until hidden by the falling snow. I start crying every time I see it - a tribute to an old series but one which is one of the bestNancy Ewarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12116290968007398337noreply@blogger.com
