This show came out when I was in high school so that aerobics scene was a positive for me, but I also liked Dr. Crusher a bit more than Counselor Troi, but I do still like both.

Ferengi are a terrible mix of stereotypes as TheShadowKnows points out, and they're just kind of goofy, so I don't take them seriously. Now, I like goofy at times, one of my favorite sci-fi races are Star Control's Spathi, a race of devout cowards, but it doesn't work well for the Ferengi since they come off as bumbling buffoons, kind of like KAOS from Get Smart, but KAOS was supposed to be silly.

Wormhole idea good, most of the rest bad.Morellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08852528242739450099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-45534830273679754772019-10-13T16:14:01.033-04:002019-10-13T16:14:01.033-04:00When Ral first came to Troi’s room, I assumed that...When Ral first came to Troi’s room, I assumed that they used to know one another and had been lovers back then; otherwise, Ral would have been acting like a creepy jerk. But no, they’ve never met before; he really IS a creepy jerk. And THIS is the guy they give Troi who’s supposed to curl her toes? This guy would make ME curl my fingers — so that I could punch him in the face. :-)

I read a lot of (TOS) fan fiction, and while much of it is dreck, some of it is really quite fine. If FAN FICTION authors can write better romantic dialogue than this, what is wrong with the supposedly professional writers who wrote this episode? It’s as if they’ve never gone on a date before or never met an actual female. No wonder Data was TNG's breakout character, because the writers of this episode showed his level of understanding of humanity.

Marina Sirtis sure was beautiful, though, especially with those Betazoid eyes. She’s a better actress than I’ve given her credit for, if she could even pretend to be interested in this sleezebag.Coryleahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16961220703672521166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-39633893173507690392019-09-15T15:56:56.436-04:002019-09-15T15:56:56.436-04:00I thought for a moment I had fouled up my arithmet...I thought for a moment I had fouled up my arithmetic. The only thing worse than those is the Hardees (aka Carl's Junior) commercials where a hot model eats some revolting-looking burger and slobbers all over herself. Both into one episode. Whoever wrote it was visionary. We have a stable wormhole, the basis for DS9 and a ship (in this case a Ferengi one) stranded in the Delta quadrant wich is the basis for Voyager of course. I found that interesting. Is like the writers, or Brandon Braga, look back on this particular episode for inspiration. There was a show called Remington Steele and during the first season the female lead, Laura, and her female friend talked about how sexy Remington Steele was that having a fling with him would be a teeth rocking experience. Laura replied that she had worked too hard to give everything up just to have her teeth rocked, a response that I loved. I wish that attitude had shown up here.

Note: In the second season of RS TPTB told Stephanie Zimbalist that Laura needed to be less hard and suddenly teeth rocking became more important than her career, but for at least one season we had a woman who cared more about her work life than good sex.percysownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01524512417823662079noreply@blogger.com
