But, the scene with Nixon really struck me this time. Jonathan made a choice when Clark was a toddler to protect him from the world and has taken that choice seriously. But, at what cost? Hearing Jonathan share stories and facts with Nixon, I realised that Jonathan has borne this burden pretty much on his own -- other than Martha, he has had no one else to talk to about what must be a challenging son to raise.<br /><br />But, Nixon made some great points that I'm afraid Jonathan didn't hear. Yes, Jonathan needed to protect his son when Clark was a child. But, Clark is growing up and needs to begin to figure out how he is going to fit into the world outside of Smallville. I mean, it is obvious that he is not going to spend his life as a farmer. Jonathan, however, is so focused on the protection side that I'm afraid he's missing the bigger picture.<br /><br />On a happier note, I like the scene where Martha shares the wish story with Lana.
