They're only ever so slightly cuter than Josh and Donna.

I am such a leftie that I would totally get behind Edward James Olmos on the Supreme Court, and I mean Olmos himself, not the character he played here. And so say we all.
Billie Douxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17141769005175631213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-70406015355307451532013-10-26T22:29:53.870-04:002013-10-26T22:29:53.870-04:00I don't think it's correct that they initi...I don't think it's correct that they initially rejected Mendoza because he was Hispanic. They rejected him because they thought it would be too difficult to have his nomination approved by the Senate. The script also suggests that having at least one Hispanic on the short list was considered a 'politically correct' thing to do, even if they had no intention of him being the final choice.orfeohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04263714867819617832noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-78575466747775613782013-08-29T16:57:58.812-04:002013-08-29T16:57:58.812-04:00SPOILER ALERT.....

And she definitely doesn't have much chemistry with Josh. With Donna and later Joey around, she was completely superfluous!Juliettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00203399623895589924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-46207918271219743932013-08-29T11:40:49.662-04:002013-08-29T11:40:49.662-04:00This is a fun episode. I love it when people outside the inner circle take one of them to task, and the speech that Crouch gives Bartlet is a thing of beauty.

Re-watching this episode fourteen years after it aired, it is interesting to note how on the nose the writers were. Privacy has become the hot issue and gay marriage is now constitutional. In this episode, even Mendoza shies away from the topic.

As you point out, there is a great deal of chemistry in this episode. CJ and Danny have it; Donna and Josh have it; Josh and Mandy do not. The writers keep trying with that last pair, but it never seems quite right to me.ChrisBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10843864158239536750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-14601994849082547472013-08-07T14:13:01.583-04:002013-08-07T14:13:01.583-04:00I can't believe you didn't recognize Edwar...I can't believe you didn't recognize Edward James Olmos! You really are bad with faces! :)

As far as I know, Bush was the first president who admitted to being a recovering alcoholic. As for Hispanic Supreme Court Justices, in the real world, Sonia Sotomayor was the first and that was just four years ago.

I agree with you on the Danny/CJ thing. It would border awfully close to stalking or sexual harassment in the real world, but is pretty darn cute on TV.sunbunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08553429350476841139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-51503091051976909472013-08-07T14:09:04.731-04:002013-08-07T14:09:04.731-04:00Mendoza's moustache is the prelude to the lege...Mendoza's moustache is the prelude to the legendary ADAMASTACHE a few years later.gwensdad2003https://www.blogger.com/profile/12658570595005548470noreply@blogger.com
