The worst part for me is that I really liked this as a kid, but watching it again in my early 50s, it's dreadful, and for many reasons.

My number one reason though, is that it makes Leela into a superstitious barbarian, which is an antithesis to her character! She's not a typical 'primitive', which was one of the main reasons she makes a good companion in the first place! Making her like this is a crime in my eyes, and for all the other faults here, this is the number one issue.

The virus being a shrimp that lays eggs is very weird, the poor version of Fantastic Voyage is not handled very well (and even with the show's shaky grip on science, it really does it poorly here), and it just doesn't flow all that well. I wonder if this is why they have that K-9 and Company pilot here, to entice folks to buy such a bad story on DVD?

I loved K-9 as a kid of course, I'm more indifferent to him these days. He does cause some plot issues, but he's far better than Scrappy-Doo was for my Scooby-Doo shows back then!

Give this one a pass unless you want to watch everything. It's just not good.Morellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08852528242739450099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-36294686266675042452013-06-16T14:01:19.342-04:002013-06-16T14:01:19.342-04:00LOL

The "joys" of a limited budget.

As a kid, I was VERY fund of Lost In Space. OH ! The things I did/didn't not to miss an episode ! When I re watched it, a few decades later and with a different pair of eyes, I wanted to bang my head on the wall...

(Another horror story ? 1973's The Starlost.)celticmarchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06018881585193380762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-82962211457885389072013-06-16T12:31:02.176-04:002013-06-16T12:31:02.176-04:00OMG, Mark, you made me laugh like a loon several t...OMG, Mark, you made me laugh like a loon several times.

It is next to impossible to take any story seriously when the villain is a giant shrimp.

I'm sure even Daniel Day Lewis would struggle to look convincingly scared if he was attacked by what look like beach balls covered in candy floss.

For some the addition of K-9 is a travesty along the same lines as Fonzy jumping that shark, Cousin Oliver moving in with the Bradys or everything that happened on Heroes after season 1.

I recently added descriptions, links and ads to my four seasons of Heroes reviews, and I could see my enthusiasm decrease incrementally with practically each review. :)

Thank you for making my morning brighter.Billie Douxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17141769005175631213noreply@blogger.com
