Like, torture him all you want, but the moment you try to kill him you’re screwed. Sure, working for drug dealers would be a drag, but I could live in a denial for several weeks.

I thought the final two scenes of this show were so sad. Finch and Reese acknowledging, in their own way, their loneliness actually brought a tear to my eye. And, the final scene with Szymanski. I liked him and I was bummed to see Tierney involved with HR. Carter has had enough betrayal; I have a feeling that this one is going to really sting.ChrisBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10843864158239536750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-13918746714584827532013-03-21T04:49:26.415-04:002013-03-21T04:49:26.415-04:00I actually enjoyed this episode quite a bit, thoug...I actually enjoyed this episode quite a bit, though I also seem to be the only person enjoying the HR subplot. If anything the episode served to add that little extra sadness to Finch's pining for his love. I'm fairly certain that "Always." line from Reese was a callback to an older episode where Finch said the same thing to him in a similar situation.

Also, gotta pour one out for my favorite tertiary character, Szymanski. Seriously, there's always that one character in a show who's not particularly important, but I like anyways. They often die. Sorry Szymanski.Freemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11265555641080269765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-28074873477021407732013-03-19T11:12:39.480-04:002013-03-19T11:12:39.480-04:00I don't really find the HR subplot particularl...I don't really find the HR subplot particularly confusing, but like you all I do think it's not been done very well. First they reduced its significance by having them almost wiped out at the end of season 1 - no problem there. But then they bring them back, try to build a story around them with just a few scenes peppered around some episodes - not good. I think they could make it work if they just had one big episode all about HR, and ended it once and for all. Then we can get onto the Machine subplot we're all waiting for :)

You're right though, this was a super quippy episode. In fact they're what made it okay - the story, like you said, seemed uneven, but there were great moments. I particularly liked Leon's opening scene with the real Nigerian scammers and him knowing Reese would swoop in to save him. I hope they bring back the other characters that they've hinted might come back - that kid from 2πR , the other billionaire (looks like I might need a refresh on their names, haha)

Oh, and I suspect your idea of having Finch be money-less will definitely turn into an episode some time - it's too good an idea to pass up. Great review!Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17171152477267754603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-5655629871206366922013-03-19T02:53:13.890-04:002013-03-19T02:53:13.890-04:00Josie - SO glad it's not just me annoyed with ...Josie - SO glad it's not just me annoyed with all the HR shit. It might be interesting if it were a) moving faster and more coherently and b) if it were on a different, more boring police procedural. There are SO many interesting elements of this world, we're going to focus on the least interesting thing possible? I want to explore the mythology of the Machine, Finch and Reese's backstories or follow Shaw. Fusco's predicament just puts me to sleep.

celticmarc - Always happy to make another person smile. :Dsunbunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08553429350476841139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-36401384470542683812013-03-18T08:28:40.228-04:002013-03-18T08:28:40.228-04:00You were inspired Sunbunny, lots of smiling on my ...You were inspired Sunbunny, lots of smiling on my part.

The HR subplot is indeed weird; yes, the machine's Mythology would be more appreciated.

"Go fish !"celticmarchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06018881585193380762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-40794269091817372512013-03-18T00:12:29.830-04:002013-03-18T00:12:29.830-04:00"Is there anything Reese doesn’t know how to ..."Is there anything Reese doesn’t know how to do? I can't follow it myself, which is internal Josie-code for "I don't care enough to bother."

I did love Reese saying he was "always" listening to Finch. It was adorable in a creepy stalkerish way. Can you imagine living your life with someone always listening to everything?
