Still hoping that the sale to Disney will lead to good home video releases of the original trilogy - when non-Lucas managers think about the big pile of money waiting to be made by selling all of those fans *another* copy these movies.

The 20th anniversary additions and changes were cool to see. But: they screw up the pacing of the movie overall (there are parts of the movie that feel paced like something out of Star Trek: The Motionless Picture, as that movie was nicknamed when it came out; the original cut was paced perfectly); they mess up the impression of Jabba as a scary and intimidating presence by showing him actually tolerating Han stepping on him; and, of course, they wreck Han's character arc (Han shoots first; and is a completely different character at the beginning if he would sit there until after he should be dead - seriously, no bounty hunter should miss from that range).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-79793114360196705192011-08-06T21:16:06.280-04:002011-08-06T21:16:06.280-04:00Enjoy the rest of the movies, Tom! I'll look forward to your comments.

And I realized why I posted spoilers in my original review (since removed) -- I reviewed all six movies in episode order instead of release order. Next week a professor of mine is showing our class The Empire Strikes Back, so I thought watching the first movie would be a good idea. I loved it, obviously.

The three main characters were awesome, but the androids made this movie for me. They were so great together and cracked me up several times. I hope they are part of the entire saga.

It's weird watching Star Wars so late, as it's such a must see for geeks. I used to think that not having watched Star Wars was a huge betrayal on my geek calling. Well, now I'm on a mission of redemption.Tom Lnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13727952.post-13563329984457241432011-08-06T20:59:41.899-04:002011-08-06T20:59:41.899-04:00Tom, you were absolutely correct to point out the ...Tom, you were absolutely correct to point out the spoiler in my review, and I've removed it.
