My gut reaction was that his intentions were cruel, but the more I think on it, the more I lean towards it being an act of efficiency or expediency. I don't think he cared enough about Dooley to be either cruel or kind; he was merely a means to an ends. And, based on that flashback, Faustus seems to have discovered that keying in on the very personal issues or memories is what gives him the most sway over his targets. Dooley's family issues are what allowed Faustus to control him to the extent he did, so that's what he used.

Very strong episode, and it was really delightful to see Peggy vent all her frustrations at her assorted coworkers (Jarvis included) and attempt to tear off their blinders. I'm glad that they all came around in the end, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them all work together next week to take down Dottie and Faustus. Hopefully it won't be our last hurrah with Peggy! I, too, am holding out hope for a second season. My world needs more Agent Carter!
