Squid Game (2021-2025) is a dystopian survival horror show from South Korea. Four hundred fifty-six players compete in deadly playground games with the hopes of winning a ₩45.6 billion prize. Brutal and unflinching in both its violence and depictions of desperate economic circumstances, there's a lot of depth to go along with the blood and bodies.
The first season is still Netflix's most watched television series, and has since spawned imitators, adaptations, and in one of the best examples of a company deliberately missing the point, an actual gameshow spinoff.
