Quantum Leap (1989-1993) is about a brilliant scientist named Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula), who invents time travel and tries it on himself — and wakes up in the past inhabiting someone else's body. Trapped in the past and leaping from life to life within the confines of his own lifetime (and giving us loads of nostalgia-related stories in the fifties, sixties and seventies), Sam must correct whatever "went wrong" in the original timeline before he can leap out again. Fortunately, he has the assistance of his friend and Quantum Leap Project partner Al (Dean Stockwell) who visits Sam in the form of a neurological hologram.

Originally a mid-season replacement, Quantum Leap ran for five seasons and nearly a hundred episodes, and was one of my favorite series way back when.
