Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a brand new Star Trek show with a long and interesting history. What other pilot has taken 57 years to go to series?

The unaired 1965 Star Trek pilot, "The Cage," didn't star Captain Kirk. It starred Captain Christopher Pike (Jeffrey Hunter), his second in command called only "Number One" (Majel Barrett), and a young alien officer named Spock. This was Gene Roddenberry's initial vision of what Star Trek was going to be. The second season of Star Trek: Discovery brought those characters back with Anson Mount as Christopher Pike, Ethan Peck as Spock, and Rebecca Romijn as Number One. We had to wait for three years because of the pandemic, but Strange New Worlds has finally arrived.
