The MTV Movie Awards 2014

Just when you thought the award season was over for the year, MTV aired their movie awards. I usually enjoy these awards because the categories are fun and there are usually some shenanigans on stage. This year, however, the show was painful to watch and I struggled to get through it.

The show was hosted by Conan O’Brian. Obviously, there are many people who find this guy funny. I am not one. His opening number was self-indulgence run amok and set the tone for what was to follow. Bad presenters, bad acceptance speeches, jokes that were offensive — you get the idea.

Even worse, MTV is now using these awards to pay their bills. Seriously, there was as much time spent on ads as on the show itself. Or, at least it felt that way.

I could go on for pages about awful this was. Instead, I will just list the winners and move on with my life.
