Valentine's Day Matchmaker

Xander: "We read about it all the time. People meet on the net, they talk, they get together, have dinner, a show ... horrible axe murder."

Love makes you do the wacky. And our love for the characters on our favorite shows can make us a little wacky (but in a good way). We can’t get them boxes of chocolate, foot rubs, or tasty dinners. But we can make sure they don’t live lives of unending lonely miserable misery. So we have another challenge for you, beloved readers:

The Challenge: Determine which characters from different shows would pair well together romantically or platonically. List your pair in the comments, and if you want to have a little crazy fun, plan out their first blind date. Demon hunting? Po’ boys and Abita beer at Merlotte’s? Damiano’s pizza?

If you’re really bored and alone (no judgment!), feel free to contribute to this thread on Most Datable Characters, and check out Billie’s list of Buffy quotes on The Perils of Dating.

And, above all, please have a happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. To get the ball rolling (or the heart a-pumping):

Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries and Cordelia Chase, Buffy-era (not Angel Cordelia) for a night of champagne, caviar, stakes, and sarcasm.

  2. Buffy's Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins and 30 Rock's John Francis "Jack" Donaghy. She's a former vengeance demon who loves money and capitalism. He's a Republican business executive who also loves money and capitalism. They couldn't be more perfect for each other.

  3. Wow, Josie. This is a tough one! All I could think of was Dean Winchester and Buffy Summers.

  4. Chiana from Farscape and Methos from Highlander. Both are pragmatic but loyal to their friends. Plus we know he likes Amanda who reminds me of Chiana at times. They'd have a blast. Maybe at the restaurant at the end of the Universe in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy books.

  5. Billie, not Dean and Faith? It could be the second bendiest weekend of his life.

  6. This was hard, but I think I got one that I really like.

    Drumroll....

Caroline & Spike (Post Soul). Because Caroline doesn't deserve to be with a demon.

  7. I'd love to see Jack Bristow (Alias) hook up with either Laura Roslin (Battlestar Galactica) or Juliette Burke (Lost). Spy Daddy deserves some happiness, and they both strike me as strong women that could match wits with him or play spy games. :)

  8. John Casey (Chuck) and Jo Lupo (Eureka) could also make for an exceptionally entertaining pair.

  9. Okay, last one: Claudia Donovan (Warehouse 13) and Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad). Both are damaged, but have good hearts and artistic souls. They could be really good for each other (assuming he gives up his current day job). Plus, he's already used to a bat guano crazy lifestyle, so he could probably adapt to her crazy life pretty well! Hers might actually seem tame in comparison to what he's used to.

  10. Xander and Sarah Walker (Chuck). She has a thing for courageous-nice guy- dorks, and he has a thing for hot chicks.

  11. For some twisted reason, I'm imagining Lorelai Gilmore going on a blind date at a fancy restaurant with Jayne Cobb. She would be talking non-stop full speed, while Jayne would look perplexed, grunting while stuffing his face. Tragically, it would end when he storms off at the five minute mark, when she won't stop pointing out that "Jayne is a girl's name".

  12. Mark, your imagination is a special place. :-)

  13. Debra Morgan from Dexter + Claudia Donovan from Warehouse 13

Because if I can't have any of them, maybe they can have each other.

  14. Knowing Caroline (VD) she'd probably be more likely to go for someone like Connor (Angel, Season 4) - total disaster waiting to happen but he's got the edge and the intensity that she seems to like. Spike's too old looking - wrinkles aren't allowed in Mystic Falls.

Or how about Helo (BSG), Mal (Firefly) and Victor (Dollhouse) just cos it'd be damn hawt. I could describe the first date but I don't want to lower the tone any further.

Actually how about Adele (Dollhouse) and Jack (Alias) - spy-daddy and super-spy-ho-matron-mum are suitably intellectually matched and they seem to enjoy running and operation and keeping secrets. Secret trysts!

  15. Oh, and if we're going for obvious - Stefan Salvatore with Buffy Summers, Elena Gilbert with Angel.

Also obvious in that it's been previous discussed an awful lot - Dawn (Buffy) and Connor (Angel), but that would be a bad idea!

Dean Pelton (Community) and Angel. It'd be awkward at first but then they'd get in the karaoke booth from which they'd never leave!

    Britta (Community) and Xander (Buffy)?

  16. Gonna drop another vampire one:

Katherine (TVD) & Spike (pre-soul). They'd be quite hot, no?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mal Reynolds and Aeryn Sun. They're both terse former fighters and Mal's got a sense of humour Aeryn could do with whilst Aeryn is able to connect with others which Mal could use.

If we're just going for sheer hotness Chief Tyrol and Dave Karofsky would make an awesome bear/cub pairing.

  18. Lex Luthor from Smallville and Katherine from Vampire Diaires. Both ruthless and spinning ambitious plans. They could take over the world.
