Newsflash: Doctor Who Christmas Special Trailer and Prequel

Christmas is just over a month away and we all know what that means. Yes, it is time to stock up on sweets and make room for all those socks our parents are going to give us. It also means that there is a brand new Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Written by the Dark Lord himself, Steven Moffat, 'The Snowmen' will be the first story to feature the wonderful Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor's new companion, Clara, who is a completely different character from the one she played in 'Asylum of the Daleks'.

Or is she?

To get us all warmed up, the BBC has released a short minisode (apparently they are cool) along with the first full trailer. Both aired as part of this year's Children in Need fundraiser and include adorable introductions by Matt and Jenna. The minisode, titled 'The Great Detective', works as a prequel for the special and features the Doctor, Madame Vastra, Jenny, a surprisingly not dead Commander Strax and the unmistakable vocal talents of Mr Mark Gatiss.

Finally we have the trailer, where it looks like Moffat is doing everything he can to ensure that children never build snowmen ever again.
