Everyone is getting into the television game, including YouTube with their exclusive YouTube Red series Impulse, a new adaptation of the Jumper series written by Steven Gould and previously adapted for the screen in 2008 starring Hayden Christensen. Judging from the new trailer it looks dark, gritty, and maybe even good.
HBO has announced a premiere date for their upcoming adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 starring Michael B. Jordan as main character Montag and Michael Shannon as Fire Captain Beatty. The film is set to be released on May 19, 2018.
In Doux Reviews site news, we just published our 8000th review, and appropriately it was also a milestone episode: Agents of SHIELD's 100th.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow has finally hit its stride creatively speaking, finally figuring out what it wants to be. And at least a small part of that has been the re-occurring character of John Constantine (who was brought into this continuity after his own show was cancelled on another network). So it comes as welcome news that if the show gets a renewal for next season, Constantine will be coming back as a series regular.
Well, like the Energizer bunny, they keep going and going and going... past their 300th episode. Yes Supernatural's producers and even the leads are saying that the episode 300 benchmark they were going to retire on may be just a benchmark, and as long as there are stories to tell they will keep going.
In other Supernatural news there is going to be a bizarre cross-over event featuring Sam and Dean getting zapped into the animated world of Scooby-Doo. Which is not nearly as weird a concept for the show as anyone who hasn't seen it would imagine.
Thor: Ragnarok was awesome, and a part of that reason was because of Tessa Thompson and the chemistry she had with Chris Hemsworth. So it comes as a nice surprise to hear that they have been cast as the leads in the upcoming Men In Black reboot. Not that I'm all that hyped about yet another reboot.
Deadpool 2 has an official trailer, and it's now called The Untitled Deadpool Sequel. Fair warning, this contains profanity.

Pacific Rim: Uprising - Sequel to Pacific Rim (2013) a monsters versus robots action film starring John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Jake Pennicot, the son of Idris Elba's character (Stacker Pentecost) from the first film who brings together Jaeger pilots to face a new threat from the monsters they thought they defeated.
Isle of Dogs - An animated comedy film set in Japan that uses stop motion photography, and has an all star cast (Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Scarlett Johansson and Yoko Ono to name a few). Written and directed by Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore).
Unsane - Psychological horror/thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Claire Foy about a young woman committed to an asylum against her will, but doesn't know what's real and what isn't after she arrives.
Midnight Sun - Starring Bella Thorne and Arnold's son Patrick Schwarzenegger, a romance about a woman with a rare disease that makes even the smallest amount of sunlight potentially fatal.
Sherlock Gnomes - I don't have words... but apparently this is not the first Gnomes feature. This is a sequel to the 2011 animated film (I kid you not) Gnomeo & Juliet. The voice cast is an embarrassment of star power with Emily Blunt and Michael Caine topping the cast list, and Johnny Depp providing the voice of the title Gnome.

Ah, Supernatural. I started reviewing it in the middle of the second season because it had gotten so surprisingly good. I had no idea it would turn into my freaking career. Do you think maybe the boys are teasing us because everyone is expecting episode 300 to be the end?
ReplyDeleteFahrenheit 451 is a great book that needs a great movie made out of it, so here's hoping. Coincidentally, I'm watching Michael B. Jordan in my rewatch of The Wire right now.
I'm very, very excited that Constantine will be a new, regular addition to Legends. I'll probably do a full series watch so that I can be fully caught up next season. (There has to be a next season, right? They wouldn't announce Constantine otherwise...)
ReplyDeleteI am ridiculously excited for the Scooby-Doo/Supernatural crossover. It's totally bizarre and definitely shouldn't work, but I don't care. Scooby-Doo is my childhood, and Supernatural is most of my teenage/young adult life. It's just going to be so much fun, especially since it looks like they're doing the original Scooby-Doo and not one of the hit-or-miss reboots/revivals.
Remember when we all thought that Supernatural would end after Season Five?
