About Us: drnanamom

We're nearing the end of our About Us series. Here's one of our first wave of recruited writers and a wonderful friend of mine for over twenty years, drnanamom!

What area of the world do you live in, and what do you do in real life? (Because we all know you don't make any money doing this.)

I live in Southern Ontario and I teach at my local university.

What show or shows are you covering for Doux Reviews? Why those particular shows?

At this time in my life I am only doing Star Trek round robins because Star Trek. In the past I reviewed Haven, The X-Files and The Walking Dead (until I couldn't manage the violence anymore).

Which TV character do you identify with the most, and why?

Again, at this time in my life I identify with Frankie from Grace and Frankie but maybe also with this Doctor Who.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

I would choose the power to heal, including hearts and minds. In particular, I would use it to keep my babies and their babies safe but then I would move out into the larger world – in secret of course. I always wanted a secret identity.

What's your favorite television show of all time? (Okay, top few will do if you can't narrow it down to one.)

Doctor Who (mostly the newish episodes)
Star Trek (all versions but I started with the original).
Buffy and Angel.

What is your favorite reality show, and why?

The Canadian and British Baking Shows. They are just so soothing to watch.

Marvel or DC?

Marvel. So many superheroes with so many powers although Wonder Woman has to move over.

Cats or dogs? Or is there some other animal involved?

Dogs but I don't hate cats. I have a dog who thinks she's a cat so I have all the bases covered.

What random skill would our readers be surprised to know you have?

I can weave or I used to be able to when I had time.

What is your most wished for holiday gift?

I should say Peace on Earth but I really want a stand mixer (see obsession with baking shows).

  1. What an adorable dog! And so not a surprise that we're on the same page with Star Trek, Buffy and Angel, and the baking shows. I did get to see the Canadian version of the Great Baking Show for the first time when I was in Canada this past September. It should be on U.S. Netflix.

  2. Star Trek and Doctor Who - great! I'm sure Buffy and Angel are great as well, simply from the sheer force of recommendation I get from this site. I definitely understand about the mixer over peace on earth; you have to have priorities, after all.

We love comments! We moderate because of spam and trolls, but don't let that stop you! It’s never too late to comment on an old show, but please don’t spoil future episodes for newbies.
