About Us: An Honest Fangirl

Next on our list of Doux Reviews writers, and we'll be coming to an end this weekend, is An Honest Fangirl!

What area of the world do you live in, and what do you do in real life? (Because we all know you don't make any money doing this.)

I actually just moved to Texas recently for grad school. I'm learning how to make video games, and yes, it is absolutely as cool as it sounds. Inner five-year-old Fangirl is still jumping up and down and screaming about it.

What show or shows are you covering for Doux Reviews? Why those particular shows?

I cover The Gifted, Legion, Lucifer, and did cover Midnight, Texas. (I really need to catch up on that last one. Curse you, grad school schedule!) Plus a few random episodes here and there from various Round Robins. Lucifer and Midnight, Texas were actually my "audition" to this site. I reviewed them on my own site (which I now, sadly, never post to anymore), and when I saw that Doux Reviews needed a Lucifer person, jumped at the chance. It's just such a good, interesting show and I'm so, so happy that Netflix picked it up.

Which TV character do you identify with the most, and why?

I highly doubt that anyone is going to know who I'm talking about, but Season One Courtney from Total Drama Island. It's an animated satire of shows like Survivor where each character is a cliche or trope. Courtney is the "Good Girl." She's had leadership positions in the past and follows the rules far too closely and is always certain that she knows best. It's not necessarily the most flattering comparison, but it's true.

Also, she has a thing for bad boys.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

My default answer has always been flight in the form of actual, physical wings, but I've recently found a better one: the ability to change the probability of anything. What's the probability that my favorite show will be renewed? Well, it's 100% now. What's the probability that I make an awesome, best selling game? 100%. What's the probability that a million dollars will fall into my lap? You guessed it!

What's your favorite television show of all time? (Okay, top few will do if you can't narrow it down to one.)

Recently? Lucifer.

In the past ten or so years? Supernatural.

Ever? Justice League. (That animated one from the early 2000s. Justice League Unlimited counts too.)

Honorable Mention: Constantine.

What is your favorite reality show, and why?

... Total Drama Island. Does satire count? No? Okay, then probably Survivor. It's very hit or miss, but when it's good, it's very, very good.

Marvel or DC?

DC television but Marvel movies. Or DC villains but Marvel heroes.

Cats or dogs? Or is there some other animal involved?

So, this is actually a very tough question for me. I, myself, am a cat at heart, and I have a very lovely, snuggly cat called Baby who is my precious child. However, I grew up with two Golden Retrievers, Mia and Cody. (Mia is pictured above) Mia was born on my birthday and if Baby is my daughter, then she was my sister. Unfortunately, she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge earlier this month after 13.5 long years. It's made me appreciate dogs a lot more.

What random skill would our readers be surprised to know you have?

I'm not sure if it's necessarily surprising, but I'm a writer. I write mostly fan fiction of various shows and video games, although I have worked on some original work as well. But I post all of my stuff online, and people seem to like it, and I really like doing it, so we all win!

What is your most wished for holiday gift?

A Time Turner from Harry Potter. Or a Playstation 4. Either or.

An Honest Fangirl loves superheroes, science fiction, fantasy, and really bad horror movies.

  1. Total Drama Island -- another show I've never heard of. I went to grad school in Texas, too! And I'm so glad you joined us, Fangirl. You contribute so much to the site already, and you're still relatively new!
