Preacher (2016-2019) tells the story of Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher with a dark past. When he is possessed by the hybrid offspring of an angel and a demon, Jesse gains the power to control people with the Word of God. As a consequence, Heaven, Hell and everything in between are coming after this preacher. Now, joined by his volatile ex-girlfriend and his Irish vampire best friend, Jesse is on a search for God amidst a bloody American landscape.
Based on the graphic novel series of the same name, Preacher is a black comedy that aims to deconstruct religion, morality, and American society. All set against a backdrop of off-the-wall insanity such as frenetic, absurdly violent action, raunchy and often bizarre humor, and a bevy of pop culture references.
