As well as anger and frustration when they are not (don't worry, Sean Bean, there's always next sea...oh).
Actually, this year hasn't been so bad. Yeah, I'm a little pissed off that both Fringe and Community have been snubbed yet again. But I'm overjoyed to see Justified finally getting Emmy recognition with noms for Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Margo Martindale and Jeremy Davies. Ditto Game of Thrones and Peter Dinklage (naff accent or not, he has to win).
Also, as a loyal fan of The Wire, I'm happy to see the mighty Idris Elba finally getting some Emmy love.

After reflecting on the nominations for a little while, I've decided that the series nominations for Friday Night Lights and Parks and Recreation (and of course the acting nods for Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton) make me so happy that any other perceived slights don't matter.
ReplyDeleteI really can't express how much the Friday Night Lights nomination for its final season means to me. I've loved that show for 5 years and cried my eyes out watching its final episodes. It didn't always make logical sense, but it nearly always hit the exact right emotional notes, and closing the door on those characters (especially Eric and Tami) was incredibly bittersweet. It's a series that affects me in a way no other show does --- not to imply that I'm unaffected by other great shows, just that I enjoy this one in a different way than all those others --- and I'm so excited to see it recognized at the end of its run (even though it won't win).
And to our Eureka fans: if you haven't already, you should give Parks and Recreation a try. It is incredibly funny, but also really optimistic and hopeful at its core. The ensemble of characters can be a bit crazy, but they still form a supportive and caring "family." The show regularly manages to hit all the humor and heart notes that Eureka hits for me, and I couldn't recommend it more highly. (Start with Season 2! Just skip right over Season 1.)
Michael C. Hall and Julia Stiles for Dexter makes me really happy. It was an exceptional season. And here's to Chris Colfer on Glee. He's one of the main reasons to watch the show.

Hi, Rish: I am sorry to admit I've never seen HIMYM. With one exception, I don't watch sitcoms. (The exception is Community. But I don't see Community as a sitcom.)

And even for a sitcom is has e very feasible story line.
