This Week: The Executioner’s Tale -- New Justified Trailer -- The Bible, Part Deux -- This Week in Casts -- New Community Trailer -- Frank Darabont -- This Week in Cats

The winter television hiatus season is always a bit slow, so this is our last Doux News of 2013. Please enjoy this video-heavy last installment of the year. May you all have a Happy Festivus!

The Executioner’s Tale

Sons of Anarchy showrunner Kurt Sutter and producer-at-large Brian Grazer have teamed up for a medieval drama that has nothing to do with dragons. The Bastard Executioner will follow a—you guessed it!—executioner derived from his family’s bar sinister during the time of Edward III. Since E-dawg 3 (as his friends called him) was king for half of the fourteenth century, there’s ample opportunity for the titular executioner to get the Black Plague and (if he’s lucky) meet a young Chaucer.

The Bible, Part Deux

NBC has announced plans to begin production on a sequel to the History channel’s successful show called The Bible. NBC’s sequel will air…

I’m sorry. I can’t do this. I doubt any of us are going to watch this show (if you’re interested in early Christianity, I recommend any resource other than NBC), but I just loved the idea of paging through the TV listings and finding The Bible Part II or some such nonsense. Also, it has been a very slow week in TV news.

This Week in Casts

Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki has been cast in the upcoming television adaptation of Robert Rodriguez’s From Dust Till Dawn.

New Community Trailer

Mark your calendars: Community’s fifth season premieres on January 2nd:

Frank Darabont

Former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont is suing AMC for millions of dollars. Darabont, whose new series Mob City is insanely boring, claims that AMC fired him to avoid paying him—or, more precisely, fired him to avoid giving him the larger percentage a second season would net. Similar situations have happened before (as on The X-Files), and I think we can all admit that sort of business dealing is just shady.

This Week in Cats

Gawker broke the news: not dog bites man, and certainly not man bites dog. Instead, an idiot attacked a cat, and the cat fought back with great success. View this great video clip (sent to me by Billie) below:

  2. And those fine humans then went and killed that poor cat “to test for rabies.” WTF, really. I shouldn't have read the story linked from the video.

  3. Oh yeah! Timothy Olyphant and that hat back on my screen. "Gimme a target and I hit it." Be still my heart…

The Bible Part One was unwatchable. You have to try to make those stories silly. Yet, somehow, the producers managed.

  4. I'm currently nearing the end of my Justified rewatch, and am so looking forward to the next season!

So sorry about the cat in the video. That's so wrong. I had no idea or I wouldn't have forwarded the clip to Josie. :(

  5. Wow, that cat sure got pissed.

On a more positive cat story, I just saw the link below and number 8 instantly reminded me of Doux News and how much you guys love cats.

  7. Oh, wow, everyone. I didn't know the cat was killed. Should I remove that video? I have another cat video I can substitute. (I keep a stash in my back pocket in case of emergencies.)

Lamounier, that article made me tear up. Way to go, humanity!
