About Us: Laure Mack

Next on our list of Doux Reviews writer Q&As is Laure Mack, who has been writing for us since 2013. Which is definitely edging into veteran agent of Doux status!

What area of the world do you live in, and what do you do in real life? (Because we all know you don't make any money doing this.)

A Texas transplant currently living in Los Angeles, CA. I spend most days pouring over financial statements and staring at the tiny boxes of spreadsheets. Jealous, aren’t you?

What show or shows are you covering for Doux Reviews? Why those particular shows?

I am currently covering The 100 and Outlander. I didn’t choose either, they chose me. Once I was hooked, I couldn’t stop thinking about the
stories or loving the characters and if I’m going to spend so much time with them in my head I might as well type something out. In the past I reviewed The Originals and Witches of East End.

Which TV character do you identify with the most, and why?

I don't know. Probably Harper from The 100. Definitely a part of the story but sometimes forgotten.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

INVISIBILITY. For sure. I want the option to duck out. I want the option to spy. Irish goodbyes are my jam at parties. Being invisible could only help!!

What's your favorite television show of all time? (Okay, top few will do if you can't narrow it down to one.)

I Love Lucy. HANDS DOWN. I’ve seen every episode many many times.

Buffy
Veronica Mars
Outlander
Game of Thrones

What is your favorite reality show, and why?

Real Housewives.

Marvel or DC?

Marvel. But I can be swayed.

Cats or dogs? Or is there some other animal involved?

Dogs (sorry Billie)! Or turtles. I consider a sea turtle my spirit animal.

What is your most wished for holiday gift?

Travel.

  1. I do love dogs. I just love cats more. I'm also a master of the spreadsheet. :) And I'm a former Angelino who lived in Texas, too! I got my masters there.

    1. Does this mean I'll eventually end up on the east coast?? I dont know if I can handle the weather.
Also, I'd probably like cats if I weren't insanely allergic.

  2. I Love Lucy, huh? I respect that. Lucille Ball is one of the real-world heroes of Star Trek, too, because she was single-handedly responsible for the explosion of popularity the show recieved in syndication.

  4. I think I *think* you worked in the same building as my mom for a while. Which is one hell of a coincidence if you think about it. I REALLY need to start Outlander.

    1. That would be an insane coincidence! What building? Why do you think this?? Did your mom hear someone cursing a spreadsheet that didn't balance?
      And yessss, please start Outlander.

  5. Laure, my east coast sojourn might not be permanent. I can't handle the weather, either.

  6. Veronica Mars and Outlander? I love you! (Buffy goes without saying and I'm just a tad behind on GoT - don't hate). I'm so glad Outlander finally has a reviewer. The show is insanely popular and somehow I still feel it's underrated. FYI - The books are pretty good too. :)

We love comments! We moderate because of spam and trolls, but don't let that stop you! It’s never too late to comment on an old show, but please don’t spoil future episodes for newbies.
