About Us: Shari

On to our next holiday Q&A – meet Shari and her feline overlord, Shadow! (pictured)

What area of the world do you live in, and what do you do in real life? (Because we all know you don’t make any money doing this.)

I have recently returned to New England after a 15-year hiatus in NYC. I’m thrilled to be back although I miss New York far more than I expected to.

I spend my days as the Senior Coordinator (think Office Manager) for a medical device company. Needless to say, I like my nights and weekends better. :)

What show or shows are you covering for Doux Reviews? Why those particular shows?

I’m currently reviewing Arrow and I fill in on The Flash when I can. Plus a few odds and ends like Farscape at the moment.

I picked Arrow as my primary show because good people being good isn’t nearly as interesting as watching people who desperately want to do the right thing but are not sure how. If that isn’t Oliver Queen then I don’t know what is.

Which TV character do you identify with the most, and why?

In my head, I’m a badass like Buffy, or Faith, yeah, definitely Faith (I’ve always been drawn more to the anti-heroes than the heroes). In reality, I’m far more like season one Willow without the awesome computer skills. Kind of nerdy, likes to read, and (when I was in school) an above-average student.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and how would you use it?

I think I would pick speed. If I had that it would kind of makes up for all the others. Right?

How would I use it? For EVERYTHING! I could get all the things I have to do done faster so I could focus on the things that are more important. Spending time with family, helping my community, reading, and writing more reviews (obviously).

What’s your favorite television show of all time? (Okay, top few will do if you can’t narrow it down to one.)

It is so hard to judge. These were the shows that were appointment viewing for me.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Battlestar Galactica (new version)
Supernatural
Fringe

What is your favorite reality show, and why?

It was Project Greenlight. I've loved behind the scene looks at how movies and TV shows were created since I was a kid. But as someone who worked on numerous movie sets this was a more realistic view of what it's actually like on set and for once I didn't have to solve any of the problems.

Marvel or DC?

I’ve always been a DC girl (Hello, Arrow and The Flash) but I have to admit to preferring Marvel movies.

Cats or dogs? Or is there some other animal involved?

I love and have been owned by both dogs and cats at various points in my life (and fish, and rabbits, and birds and... ). My current owner is a cat named Shadow and I’m her resident pillow and can-opener.

What random skill would our readers be surprised to know you have?

They might have been surprised to know (if I hadn’t just mentioned in my last review) that I’ve studied martial arts for over a decade. I’m not particularly good at it but I love it.

What is your most wished for holiday gift?

More time to read.

Shari loves sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, and anything with a cape.

  1. It can't be a coincidence, the books and the gray stripey cats. :) And see, I had no idea about the martial arts or the movie sets. Very cool.

  3. I worked as an Assistant Director. Which is the equivalent of a Stage Manager for film and TV. I was a 1st AD, a 2nd AD, and a 2nd 2nd AD. The British call them 3rd ADs and I think the American's just had to be different. As for which movies, mostly bad horror flicks. I have an IMDB page but most of my films aren't on it.

  4. That's really awesome. The AD's is a heavy burden indeed; I'm impressed.

  5. Shari, Shadow is beautiful! (Coincidentally, Shadow looks a lot like my cat Sam.)

I would love the gift of time also.

  6. Thanks Josie,

I appreciate the compliment. Shadow just acknowledges her due.
