Angel: Dead End

Lindsey: "Why aren't you trying to kill me?"
Angel: "Excuse me. I'm on a case here, Lindsey. Does everything always have to be about killing you all the time?"

This was a great Lindsey episode.

I love Lindsey. I want Lindsey to stay on the show. He and Angel have such a weird, wild and wonderful relationship; Angel tends to have a particularly short fuse with Lindsey, they go all schoolyard with each other at the least provocation, and Lindsey is never sure whether or not Angel is going to attack him. And Lindsey has jumped from one side of the fence to the other more than once; he's morally ambiguous and unpredictable, and I like that. And cute. Did I say cute? Let me say it again – he is way cute.

And I loved the "take this job and shove it" ending. The whole "evil hand issues" thing was great; that hand never actually did anything bad but scribble the word "kill," but Lindsey took the opportunity to goose Lilah, shoot the security guard in the foot, and ruffle an exec's hair. And I particularly enjoyed watching Lindsey throw the division to Lilah. That was actually nice of him and probably saved her life.

Didn't care much about the gross-out body parts and eye-stabbing stuff, although it was good for illustrating how bad things are getting for Cordelia. I do like the way the guys are worrying about Cordelia.

Bits:

— Christian Kane is pretty darned good with that guitar. Probably because he's a professional musician.

— That suit the Host was wearing looked like it was made out of a shower curtain. But he was able to carry it off.

Quotes:

Nathan: "And the current status of Angel?"
Lindsey: "Angel? He's up, he's down, he's good, he's bad, he's a barrel of dead monkeys."

Wesley: "Let's start by calling the hospitals."
Gunn: "And say what? Did my uncle check in with a knife in his eye? They only give out information to relatives. (Angel and Wesley look at him) I just got the calling the hospitals job, didn't I?"

Angel: "Thanks. Keep the change."
Delivery guy: "Wow. A whole dollar just for me. I'm the luckiest delivery man ever."

Angel: "There is only thing we can do now."
Cordelia: "Oh, god. Oh, no."
Wesley: "The Karaoke bar."
Gunn: "Angel's gonna sing?"
Cordelia: "Isn't there some other way?"
Wesley: "There has to be. Think, damn it!"

Cordelia: "You should pick something short."
Angel: "I was thinking about 'Stairway to Heaven'."
Wesley: "Don't even joke about that."

Host: "Two enemies, one case, all come together in a beautiful buddy-movie kind of way."
Gunn: "They supposed to work together on this?"
Lindsey: "Work with him? (Host nods) Work with him?"
Host: "Am I the only one who saw Forty-eight Hours?"

Angel: "You know, when I was in charge here, nobody questioned my methods or my singing."
Cordelia: "You're half right."

Two out of four stakes, and they're pretty much all points for Lindsey. Lindsey, don't go!

  1. I love this episode. I love Lindsey, I love the evil hand humour, I love Lindsey and Lilah... it's all good. I hadn't realised it went with Intervention, what a great pair!

  2. Lindsey and Angel are so much fun together. The scene at the end with the "Cops Suck" sign on the back of the truck always makes me smile.

  3. I love Lindsay and this episode too, and Angel and Lindsay play off each other very well. Although I do think Angel is a bit hard on him.

  4. Lindsay always vacillated about the evil at Wolfram and Hart. He obviously has lines he is not willing to cross - they are waaaay out there but still there are lines. I hope he comes back too. I also like Lilah who is evil in a very lawyerish way - I mean sort of normally evil.

  5. Deserved a higher rating, I loved this. CHARLIE!
With Kate being mentioned in this episode as a no longer relevant resource it was a little sad to see Lindsey leaving town. I was hoping it wouldn't come so soon after the Epiphany peak. Oh well... *nod* Charlie
