Billie Doux

In French, a billet-doux is a love letter. So my pen name is a pun. 'Doux' is pronounced 'Doo.'

I'm pretty much a reviewing fool, and most of my reviews really are love letters. It's what I do, and I've been doing it since 1997. Below is a long list of everything I've written for this site, in sections.

For more about me, here's a link to my personal blog and our Frequently Asked Questions section. I also have a personal Twitter account, although I mostly just tweet links to my latest review or article since I'm a bit too garrulous to be witty in 140 characters or less. 280. Whatever. (Mark Greig and Sunbunny, two of our longest resident writers, tweet for us.

Articles

Again, a list would be way long. So instead of that, please check out our Articles index. Anything older than 2008 is guaranteed to have been written by me because the site was just me back then. Anything after 2008 is usually by someone else. But not always.

If you have any suggestions about what we should be covering, or if you have any feedback or words of wisdom for me, you can contact me at douxreviews at gmail dot com. Or you can post a comment below.

  1. Hi - you stopped reviewing at Roy Dupuis movies and television awhile ago. He is still working and has a series "Toute la Vie" currently and is the only 57 year old actor I know where they have to make it clear that he does not have a sexual relationship with another main character. So far I would recommend L'Autre Maison and Sticky Fingers (les Doights Croches). There are many more but those stand out and a bunch I haven't seen yet that sound interesting and the 2 TV series. Would you like reviews of his work since you stopped? He has done quite a bit. Forgotten Flowers (Les fleurs oubliées) 2019 is the last movie I have noted but getting that has been made very difficult with the pandemic.
    Let me know. Thanks.

  2. Hello, Unknown:

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not in a position to take on a new project just now -- or more accurately, resume an old project -- but if you're interested in writing for Doux Reviews, everything you need to know is here:

  3. Regarding this: Brenda: "If you lose a spouse, you're called a widow or a widower. If you're a child and you lose your parents, then you're an orphan. But what's the word to describe a parent who loses a child?" After my daughter died I created this word! Would you like to know and share it? LOSSENT: One who outlives their biological child; a person who outlives a child they adopted, fostered, or otherwise raised as their offspring.

    You’re welcome! 😇
