Heroes: Fallout

Ando: "Who is it?"
Hiro: "Destiny."
Ando: "I wish Destiny would lose our number."

Peter had better not be dead, that's all I have to say.

And I just can't believe that Peter will cause the New York ka-boom. Peter absorbed a lot of the powers from different characters in the past two episodes (I think that was why he was showing physical stress), and that certainly included Sylar. What if Peter was seeing himself in that terrific dream sequence, but he was actually Sylar? He was wearing a great big wristwatch, after all. Dan thinks Sylar will absorb Ted's powers, and that will cause him to explode. We shall see.

This episode was one cool scene after another. Peter and Claire in prison, talking about invulnerability and resurrection. Matt and Peter reading each other's minds as well as Audrey's. The creepy scenes when Claire realized that Lyle and Zach had forgotten about her Gift. The dream Peter had about Nathan turning into Sylar was also pretty interesting, as well as a revealing glimpse at Nathan's true nature. (I just know Nathan's a villain. He has to be.)

That terrific dream sequence in the end had all of them together, just as they were at the beginning of the story: Mohinder getting out of a cab, Matt in his cop's uniform, Simone with Isaac, Hiro and Ando, Claire in her cheerleading uniform, Niki, DL, and Micah. Nathan was acting creepy and walking right up to Peter, while everyone else was running away. The cars were all empty of people, implying that there was some warning before the explosion.

Bennet's minions have minds of their own. The Haitian can talk, after all, and he wants Claire to deceive her own father? Why? And Eden killed herself to keep Sylar from taking her Gift. She let Isaac go, too. I was sorry we lost her. Eden was exceptionally cool.

Bits and pieces:

-- Eden's death means that we're down to twelve gifted people in our story.

-- Zach said he'd only been friends with Claire for two weeks. Has it only been two weeks since the start of the action?

-- Isaac can paint without the drugs, now. He painted Hiro (and sword) fighting a T-Rex. Hiro has mentioned a T-Rex before. I wonder if that's why he'll end up fighting one?

-- The bullet going through DL's head was pretty cool. I'm starting to like DL. He has a cool-ass power, too. And killer biceps.

-- Niki turning herself in was also cool. Although I wonder if there is a jail cell that can hold Jessica.

-- Sylar's cell appeared to be made of a specific type of material. Does it contain him? Was it lead, like Superman? Bennet said that all the power Sylar absorbed has degraded his body. Was this also happening to Peter?

-- Who does Bennet report to? Primatech has been around since 1962. Has the Secret Department of Mutant Affairs been around that long, too?

Quotes:

Peter: "I thought I'd be a hero."
Nathan: "Yeah. How'd that work out for you?"

Hiro: "What if I step on a bug? I could change history!" This is from the famous Bradbury story about the time traveling dinosaur hunter who stepped on a butterfly, which completely changed history. (Thanks, Anthony.)

Four out of four stars,
