What Are You Screening?

We don't do a lot of movie reviews here about billiedoux.com. TV is just too much fun. But we do like to hear from you about movies you've seen. We can all use this thread to rant and rave about recent (or not-so-recent) films.
Do you want to see a particular movie reviewed? Drop us a note in the suggestion box!

The Room.... Go on i dare you. :)
ReplyDeleteDave Eco.
I saw Pandorum last night on DVD, and I can't recommend it. The good sci-fi elements plus Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid that could have made it a decent movie take a complete back seat to monsters and repeated fight scenes.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a movie, but I'm not sure where else to put this:
ReplyDeleteI'm 17 minutes into The Chicago Code, and it's awful. Like an episode of The Shield that got hijacked by The Comish.
I had such high hopes!
I thought it was a little too fast-paced (I had trouble understanding Jason Clarke's character half the time), but I liked several of the characters (NOT including the rookie beat cops), and by the end, I was intrigued enough to give it a few more episodes.
ReplyDeleteIt's no Homicide though.

ReplyDeleteHi Zob,
ReplyDeleteZen doesn't seem to be available here in North America (unless the Canadians have some sort of special BBC hook-up). But Rufus Sewell! When it does come out I look forward to watching it.
Watched Duncan Jones’ Moon this weekend and can’t recommend it enough. It’s exactly the type of intelligent, character driven science fiction film we don’t see enough of post-Star Wars. Sam Rockwell gives an amazing performance and should’ve been at least Oscar nominated.
ReplyDeleteJust watched Tangled with the family yesterday. Very enjoyable movie. I was surprised by how much it made me laugh! I really enjoyed some of the editing choices, which felt very modern and different for a Disney princess movie. Plus, several of the action sequences were very visually striking.
ReplyDeleteI know it isn't the usual fare for the crowd on this site (aside from #1 Disney Channel Fan, Dimitri), but I wanted to mention it because Zachary Levi voices the male lead, and he did a wonderful job. He sings, too! Current or former Chuck fans might enjoy the film for his performance alone!
I just watched Tucker and Dale vs Evil and I'm so disappointed to not find a review here on BD! My viewing experience is sadly incomplete ...
ReplyDeleteInto the wild and The man from earth are 2 unbelivable films.. definetly a must see for anyone who enjoys unbelivables films lol..
ReplyDeleteGiven the focus on science fiction on the site, I'm surprised there's no review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
ReplyDeleteHave two, oldish, movies that I can recommend. The first is the newest of them, namely "Los Cronocrimenes" (or Timecrimes, which is the english title).
ReplyDeleteA timetravel-mystery-film, akin to Primer or Coherence (two great movies).
Then a movie that would be a shame to miss for those of you that are into apocalypse-movie-classics - The Quiet Earth.
And, finally, a totally different kind of (TV-)movie - Without Warning from 1994 (not the cheesy alien-flick from -80 with Jack Palance and Martin Landau).
Before you see that one, though, be aware that it starts out as an entirely different thing than what it evolves into.
Many people have recommended Timecrimes to me. And anything that gets a comparison to Coherence sounds good!
ReplyDeleteAmerican Gods on the free month from Amazon Prime. First four episodes were breathtaking, last four episodes less convincing in my opinion, but still worth a look.
