Battlestar Galactica: Six Degrees of Separation

Gaius: "I talk to myself. Hang me."

We're back to the strange and confusing Cylon monotheism, with a vengeance.

Gaius tells Six he no longer believes in her God, and wham! she arrives in the flesh and does her best to get him executed for treason. She wasn't a hologram; she kissed Adama and used the bathroom, after all. How did she get there, and where did she go when she left? Do the Cylons have some sort of hologram technology that simulates touch? If they did, that would explain the usual situation with Number Six and Gaius, because he can definitely feel her. Maybe it's keyed in to his brain waves most of the time, and they changed it temporarily so that everyone could see her. So that she could scare the crap out of him, and keep him in line. It worked.

This episode was just full of funny, memorable scenes, like Gaius' shock when he realized she was solid (the brown sack she was wearing should have given it away), "Shelly" trying unsuccessfully to seduce Adama, that classic scene in the unisex bathroom with Gaeta, and last but not least, Chief and Cally trying to figure out the squishy controls on the Cylon raider.

And then there was Lee, trying to get the depressed Starbuck out of bed. I loved his barrage of cliches. Lee really cares about Kara. Oddly enough, Tigh cares, too; he was the one who actually got her out of bed.

Meanwhile, back on Caprica, Helo took a big step forward in human/Cylon relations and got down with his own personal Sharon. And there was that red spine thing again.

Bits and pieces:

— James Callis deserves big gold acting stars for this one. He was alternately disdainful, terrified, indignant, terrified, pissed off, terrified... he was great. Tricia Helfer was also excellent. I don't know how she does it, but she constantly gives me the creeps.

— This episode may get the prize for cleverest, most pun-ish title.

— Gaius was put on a "no fly" list. A little current cultural humor.

— Shelly Godfrey. That couldn't have been her name when they were dating on Caprica, or he wouldn't have been so sarcastic about it. The "God" part of Godfrey was a joke, of course, but what about Shelly? Am I missing something?

— All of a sudden, Gaeta could tell the photo was faked? Weird.

Quotes:

Six: "If you would give yourself over to God's will, you'd find peace in his love, like I have."
Gaius: "Could you help me with this zipper?" (Typical. She says God, he says sex.)

Six: "Dr. Amarak gave the disk to me before he died."
Gaius: (sarcastically) "As opposed to after he died?"
If Six had actually been an associate of Dr. Amarak's, would she have needed Gaius to get to the defense mainframe?

Sharon was acting all soft and gooey around the Cylon raider. "You have to treat it like a pet." And somehow, still not setting off alarm bells. She practically has Cylon written all over her at times.

"The Church of the Mystic Cylon Detector." If he actually invented the thing, who would know if it worked?

Dr. Cottle: "Sorry, we're weaning you off the magic pills starting today. Besides, I need them for myself."
Cottle also got to give Laura a shot in the ass. I like Dr. Cottle. He makes me smile.

And the best lines, all Gaius:

"You have not heard the last! No more Mr. Nice Gaius!"

"Now, I've accepted your God and all that. Can we reboot the hard drive?"

"Cylons are, in the final analysis, little more than toasters. With great looking legs."

"Wait, Gaeta! You forgot to wash your hands!" (That was the best scene yet in the unisex bathroom. I love the unisex bathroom.)
