I think they got a lot of the drama right, but the comedy I'm not so sure. If anyone watches New Girl, is it really that good? I can't comment as I've never seen a single episode.

Let us know what you think. Are they at least closer than the Emmys?

  1. It took me awhile to get what exactly a "Ewwy" was but very creative on Entertainment Weekly's part! I'm all for shows that don't get the respect they deserve being acknowledged.

  2. It's not really a "better than the Emmys" kind of thing though. Rather, it's a "who was the biggest snub" in each category. It would be interesting for them to take the winner in each category and put them into a vote against the actual Emmy nominees and see who comes out on top. Because many of the Emmy nominees are deserving. I'd certainly pick Tatiana Maslany over the other nominated ladies in that category, but I'm definitely not picking John Noble (good as he is) over Aaron Paul or Jonathan Banks.

Still, nice to see some kind of recognition for the Rectify folks. I watched that recently, and Aden Young and Abigail Spencer were both very, very good.

My biggest quibble with these is that apparently Noah Emmerich (The Americans) didn't even make the cut as a nominee for Supporting Actor. Seriously? He was biggest snub in that category to my mind. But I guess I'm very alone in that. :(

  3. LOVE that Orphan Black is getting some love! Nice to see Scandal too. I've seen a couple eps of New Girl, but it didn't really speak to me in any way. I think the Emmys does pretty well when it comes to comedies (the nominations at least, they always seem to go with the same winners, which is annoying).

  4. It does seem like a more Billie-friendly list of shows and actors than the Emmys. But that applies to just about anyone's list. :)

  5. Yay for Tatiana..She's so gifted and amazing. New Girl is okay..I didn't last more than a few eps but the cast seem funny enough. Yay for Natalie Dormer also.

  6. Yes, New Girl is completely awesome. One of my biggest obsessions of the past year. Nick Miller is both my masculine self and the love of my life.

Er, to answer the question, yeah it's pretty good!

  7. (Like nearly all sitcoms - in fact, like nearly all shows - New Girl gets better as it goes along, especially in the second season).
