Here we go again. It's that time of year when the networks are deciding which of their shows will continue for another year and which will live only in our memories or our streaming services. Below is the list of shows from the five major networks. Red means cancelled; green means renewed; black means they are still in limbo. We will be updating this list as the decisions come in, so stay tuned.

What do you think? Where did the networks get it right and where did they get it wrong? Let us know.
ChrisB is a freelance writer who spends more time than she ought in front of a television screen or with a book in her hands.
Even though I don't watch the show, after what happened in Winter Soldier, they'd be foolish to cancel Agents of SHIELD at this juncture.
ReplyDeleteAlso if Hannibal doesn't get renewed I'll be very cross. Same goes with The Mentalist, that show's my jam.
I'm glad my guilty pleasure show, Grimm, got renewed.
If any of you kinda phased out of watching The Simpsons in recent years, I'd recommend jumping back in. The past 2 or 3 seasons have been hilarious.
After what happened with Firefly and Dollhouse, I'm willing to bet that Joss Whedon refused to do Agents of SHIELD unless they guaranteed him two seasons up front. Plus the tie-in.
ReplyDeleteThere really aren't any other shows not yet renewed that I'm deeply invested in. Maybe The Mentalist, but I lost track and stopped watching during my cross-country move this spring, so I honestly don't know if the revamp is working. Is it?
Fingers crossed for Agents of SHIELD, and Hannibal. Mind Games really deserved to be cancelled. Yay for Brooklyn Nine nine and Arrow.
ReplyDeleteDracula is so bad ..but rumours say it still might have a chance. We'll see.
I've been holding my breath for Dracula. It's so weird and I love it so much, although I think I'm one of a select few. Beautiful sets and exotic location makes it an expensive show, though.
ReplyDeleteConcerning The Mentalist, I like Abbott and Wily as additions to the show. I didn't care for Abbott at first but they've introduced more facets to him that make him interesting to watch. Don't care much for Fischer. I get she's supposed to kinda be a more extreme Lisbon now but she doesn't mesh with anyone. Which I guess is supposed to be the point but it gets kind of annoying.
ReplyDeleteAs for the revamp itself, the show more or less feels the same. Take that for what you want. Probably the most interesting thing in the show right now is that since Jane doesn't really have a purpose or direction right now, he seems even more reckless. It's rather fun to watch.
Sigh. Almost Human almost had it all -- a terrific lead, an interesting science fiction universe, and what did they do? They made it a procedural. They made it boring. Don't they know that sci-fi fans are all about the story? I'm all about the arc, people. Did they just not know their audience?
ReplyDeleteIt is too bad about Almost Human. I think they were just starting to introduce some arc-like elements (the wall...what's beyond the wall?), but took too long getting there.
ReplyDeleteWe need another show with Eomer, for sure.
No word on Believe or Resurrection yet?
Believe is getting redundant...but I really like the two leads - they have a really nice and believable (!) chemistry.
Resurrection... one short season isn't enough, I think, to judge...again, the mystery is just getting going...
Sooze -- news out today that NBC has pulled Believe and Crisis from its sweeps. That is almost enough for me turn them to red even without the official announcement.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on Believe. While the stories fell into a pattern too quickly, the chemistry between Bo and her dad was simply lovely to watch. Oh well.
So SVU gets another season..sort of cool. Now they can be a but less hit and miss than this season please?
ReplyDeleteSad about Surviving Jack. That was funny.
Prayer circle for Hannibal and Agents of SHIELD.
Prayer circle worked. Yay for Agents and Hannibal.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Arrow, Grimm and Person of Interest got renewed as they're my top three series at the moment.
