'No More Heartbreaks' because all the hearts are already broken. Pieced together with scotch tape and Elmer's glue, then broken again. Chewed up and spit out by wild jackals. The hearts probably all look like low-grade, gas station beef jerky by now.
Turns out all Cami needed to stop annoying me was to face death again. She woke up, realized she was dying and went right back to being herself and I ate it all up. Going into this episode I wasn't sure if I wanted her to live or die. After ten minutes I was dying for her to live, which meant she would definitely be biting the dust. Follow me? Lucien was right, though, we suffer from too much Hope. Loopholes are so often found in New Orleans that I just assumed Cami would have one, too. Even after Hayley covered her face with the blanket, I expected Cami to pop up saying that she traded therapy sessions with St. Peter in exchange for extra time on earth.
I am really really not a fan of everyone that dares to love a Mikaelson ending up very very dead. It leaves no point in even rooting for them to be happy. Let's heap the misery and torment on them to keep from jinxing everyone else. Like not at all am I okay with this. I do wonder though, is this the same terrible short straw they've always drawn or are the ancestors behind more of this than we know? They're obviously behind Kol attacking Davina, but what about Cami? Geez Louise, if they are responsible for Cami, then the New Orleans witches are responsible for wiping out the entire O'Connell family. Is killing the ancestors an option, because if anyone has earned it... And I'm officially jumping ship on Haylijah. I like Hayley. I don't want her to die.
In the end, Klaus gave Cami a perfect day to end her life on. Funny that his version of her perfect day culminated in the night that she met him which ultimately led to her dying. Twice. No brother or uncle. No sweet childhood memory. Is that Klaus' ego or was that really the best day of her life? I guess we will never know.
Cami never got enough to do or a storyline to call her own, and judging from Leah Pipes's tear-jerking performance in this episode they really should've given her that. Even doling out her worldly possessions was a little dull. Davina the clothes, Josh got tunes, Vincent got all of Father Kiernan's files, Elijah a game of trivial pursuit, Hayley gets the dark objects to one day pass on to Hope and Klaus got one final plea to remember that he is loved.
This episode was far from perfect, but I cried.

Bites and pieces
I find cursed Kol to be wildly annoying. Probably because we have our limit of uncontrollable aggression on this show already and I'm not enjoying all of the extra scowls and brooding that he's bringing to the table. I miss the wild and sarcastic youngest Mikaelson that Davina, not to mention the rest of us, fell for in the first place.
Lucien whines a lot for someone so all powerful. He still blames Klaus for 'stealing the love of his life' even though he has Aurora on camera saying that she could never take him seriously. He's like the guy that shows up to his 10 year high school reunion still crying about the swirly he got in gym class. Too bad he killed the best therapist in town. Cami probably could've really helped him work through these embarrassing issues.
Man, was everyone's contract up or what? Did Davina just die too?
Freya is going to need a pep talk soon. She sashayed into the lives of her brothers and sister thinking she had some real power, but she keeps getting bested. She still doesn't know how to save Rebekah or stop Lucien. She couldn't save Cami. Geez.
I temporarily forgot that Aurora drank the second vial of potion and kept thinking they should feed it to Cami. Is Aurora dead dead?? I genuinely can't remember. She isn't just daggered or something, right?
Klaus was silent for the rest of the episode after Cami died.
If Davina is really gone, then Hayley is the only remaining original female lead character (not counting Rebekah because she's been daggered indefinitely).
Lucien: "Sampled quite a bit of your blood, actually. It was very tasty. Although more bitter than I expected."
Klaus: "I can tell you I love you tomorrow. You're not dying today."
Davina: "There's got to be a fix. Just promise you'll never leave me again."
Some people have no chill. At least she knows what she wants.
Davina: "I stood up to Klaus, and I'm not afraid of some second-string copy cat."
Cami: "Love will make you strong. It will make you the man that I know you want to be, and you have to remember that because I won't be here to remind you."
Cami: "I was never naive enough to think that I was your light, but there is light in you. All that anger, the cycle of abuse that Mikael began, you can end it. You have to, so you can be the light for your little girl. For Hope."
Klaus: "Just know; there will be no more pain, no more heartbreak.. You will find peace."
Vincent: "Even if I do get chopped down, I know you're right there ahead of me. Keeping the fire warm and the beers cold."

Laure, you know I watch The Originals for Elijah, but I swear I cried for Klaus throughout most of this episode. The way he just sat beside her bed and held her hand and took her mind away was beautifully shot and boy, did it get to me. And now he has an excuse to go crazy and kill everything again.

I just rewatched this episode and cried through it again. I honestly think it's Joseph Morgan's best performance so far, and Leah Pipes was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI’m doing a rewatch before this series leaves Netflix. This episode was a lot for me. I loved Cami. The ancestors have their hands in a lot of pots but do you think they had something to do with Cami’s death? If they wanted to break Klaus then killing Cami is a good way to do it.
