Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has passed away at the age of 54 from natural causes.
Brendon led a difficult life after Buffy. In recent years, he faced serious health issues, including surgeries related to cauda equina syndrome. He also had a history of alcohol and substance abuse, which at times led to violent behavior. When sober, Brendon was known to be friendly and positive.
Aside from Buffy, I watched him in Coherence, a terrific low-budget sci-fi film in which he does a very good job as one of the main characters. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
Some of his co-stars have already paid their respects on Instagram, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, and Emma Caulfield.
This scene from the episode “Potential” hits differently now.
RIP, Nick.

Lamounier, thanks so much for posting this. That clip from "Potential" made me cry. They were both too young.
