May sweeps are over, and I'm taking a week off from writing. I'll be back the first week of June and starting my summer reviewing projects.
Since Veronica Mars is now gone, I can take on another currently running show. It probably won't surprise you to hear that I'm taking on Supernatural, since I'm sort of half reviewing it already.
Why Supernatural and not Prison Break? Because even though Wentworth is probably the hottest guy on television and I love the show, I don't feel compelled to write about it. I write reviews for fun, and it's hard to make myself write about something if I really don't wanna. Plus, I have to say that Supernatural's second season was better written, more complex, more exciting than its first. With Prison Break, the reverse is true, unfortunately.
Speaking of feeling compelled and how hard it is for me to force it, the sixth season of The Dead Zone will be running this summer. I loved the first two seasons, and haven't been as enchanted with the past three. Maybe they'll surprise me. Maybe they'll wind up the Stillson arc and make season six worthwhile. Honestly, if The Dead Zone were running any time but the summer, I wouldn't keep going with it. But since it is, I will.
I left Six Feet Under in the middle of season two, and I'm going back to it. Maybe I'll finish it this summer. And I'm going to keep doing the Buffy season eight comics. At least until I get tired of them.
And since I just can't handle another currently running show but I'm still a glutton for punishment, I'm going to start working on another one of my old favorites this summer. And it's going to be Highlander. Why Highlander? Because I've always wanted to write about Highlander. If I wrote fan fic, it would probably be Highlander fan fic. Even after all these years, I still have a real thing for Methos. I've been working on Highlander reviews on and off during breaks and it's time for them to see the light of day.
So here's my summer line-up. Sorry if I didn't pick up a fave of yours.
-- Supernatural
-- The Dead Zone
-- Six Feet Under
-- Highlander
-- Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight
And now for my week off. That sound you hear is me collapsing into a pitiful heap.
Yay for Supernatural! Thanks Billie! Can't wait to read your reviews! Will you start with Season 1? Will you do both seasons this summer?
ReplyDeleteI know it's a tad early, but as far as shows to review come fall, Bionic Woman is looking pretty good. HINT HINT
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're doing Supernatural and Highlander. (Got to love Methos!)
ReplyDeleteBillie, I'm so glad to hear you're going to review Highlander! Even though it's been gone for years I still adore it, and Methos still remains my favorite fictional character ever. There were just so many layers to him; if only they'd done a Methos spin-off series, even though I do like Amanda. But there's only one Methos.
ReplyDeleteI bought seasons 4 and 5 on DVD, despite their exorbitant prices, just because I needed my Methos episodes. What a great series, I adored it.
As far as fanfic, I feel the same way. The only fic I ever wrote was a short Methos fic. And in fact, Highlander is what got me started on fanfic at all, because of all the things they left up to viewers' imaginations. (sigh)
Thanks for deciding to review it! (hint hint start with Methos episodes! hehe)
Yes, I'm going to do the first two seasons of Supernatural this summer. I'm hung up on that completion thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm also starting at the beginning with Highlander. Again, I'm hung up on that completion thing. But I've been working on it off and on and I'm halfway through season two already, so it might not take too long.
Thanks so much for the great comments and encouragement. I knew Supernatural would be a popular choice, but I wasn't so sure about Highlander.
Hey, it sounds like a great excuse to watch Highlander all over again. ;) I know I would if I had the chance. Mac, Joe and Amanda were fabulous characters too (however I wasn't much of a Richie fan, I only liked him in episodes like the Double Eagle, with Kit and Amanda and that insanity lol).
ReplyDeleteI think I'm just drawn to the whole immortality concept. I love shows or books that focus on characters unmarked (physically) by the passage of time, and all the experience they can acquire and the time periods they can live in.
But yes, I'm very glad you're progressing with Highlander!
The alternative is unthinkable. ;)
Can i just say that I just finished watching Alias (the entire series) and im mad at myself for not getting into it when it was actually on tv. You did a nice review of it. In fact I was turned on to your reviews from Buffy & Angel (im a big fan as well). You should watch House. Its a great show!
