Lost Missing Pieces #13: So It Begins

Where it fits

Right before the pilot episode.

Recap

Vincent is running through the jungle when he hears a whistle. Christian Shephard appears and calls Vincent to him. He tells him to go wake up his son who's unconscious nearby. He says he has work to do. We then see Jack regaining consciousness. Vincent approaches him, their eyes meet, and Vincent runs off into the jungle again.

Thoughts

Another short webisode at just over two minutes. Horrendously short when you consider that (a) thirty seconds of it's wasted watching Vincent roaming through the jungle alone, and (b) another forty five seconds is just a partial rerun of the pilot episodes opening minute. So nothing much to get your teeth into.

The episode opens with us seeing things through Vincent's eyes. Eyes which are evidently able to see in full colour. So Vincent clearly doesn't have the same restricted vision of other dogs... gasp!

How is it that Vincent understands what Christian's saying? Does the island have its very own Doctor Dolittle?

What "work" does Jack need to do?

At the end of the webisode we get a close up shot of Jack's right eye. Fans of the show will recognize the footage as the opening scene from the pilot episode.

Quotes

Christian: “I need you to go find my son. He's over there in that bamboo forest, unconscious. I need you to go wake him up. Okay? He has work to do.”
