Count Dracula: "You fools! Do you think with your crosses and your wafers you can destroy me? Me! You do not know how many men have come against me. I am the king of my kind! You have accomplished nothing, Van Helsing. Time is on my side. In a century, when you are dust, I shall wake and call Lucy, my queen, from her grave. I have in my time had many brides, Mr. Harker. But I shall set Lucy above them all.”
Taking a detour from my planned trip through the Universal classics, I recently rewatched this one and felt it would be a good time to review this often overlooked but enjoyable take on Dracula.

Dracula (1931 English and Spanish versions)

“For one who has not lived even a single lifetime, you're a wise man, Van Helsing.”
A bit of a switch up with this review, as it’s a dual (Doux?) review. I’ll begin my chronological journey through the Universal classic horror collection boxed set with Dracula, both the more well-known English version starring the iconic Bela Lugosi, and the Spanish version with Carlos Villarias as the undead count.

Dracula: The Blood is the Life (Pilot)

“Tonight, it is my sublime pleasure to demonstrate a way out, out of the darkness.”
I signed up to review the pilots of Reign and Dracula for one very simple reason: I like reviewing bad shows. It’s fun. You complain, you nitpick, and no one takes issue with it because everyone knows it wasn’t very good. Unfortunately for me, Reign turned out to be watchable (if only in a guilty pleasure sense) and Dracula...well, it was not a total disaster.
