Fall 2014 Premiere Schedule
by
Josie Kafka
This post needs no introduction, so I'll let fellow TV reviewer and blogger Bill Shakespeare showcase his poetic talents in this sonnet to the life-expectancy of Sean Bean, whose upcoming show Legends premieres August 20th:
Sonnet 73
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou see'st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire,
Consum'd with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceiv'st, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Glad to see I have a good few months to catch up on the rest of Supernatural - though having watched most of season 3 in 2 days I probably don't need it...
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why didn't Fox repeat the entire run of Sleepy Hollow this summer? They're idiots!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Billie. I thought for sure we would have a chance to do a re-watch before the fall.
ReplyDeleteIs it me, or does it seem as though shows come back later and later each year?
That's true, ChrisB. Didn't we used to get premieres in August and early September?
ReplyDeleteWe did! Certainly by the end of September, the networks were in full swing. Now, they're just getting started.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much of this is a result of all the other programming now on cable and streaming channels. It will be interesting to watch over the next few years to see if the networks (1) shorten their seasons to more closely follow cable seasons and (2) stop premiere season all together and unveil their new shows throughout the year.
We are certainly seeing a lot of (2) already.
At least we're getting great programming during the summer now, which is great. I remember calling summer "the television wasteland" but it's certainly not a wasteland any more.
