Arrow is the new superhero show on the CW, replacing the long-running Smallville. It follows the exploits of a green-hooded archer who is really a formerly spoiled billionaire twenty-something named Oliver Queen. He reformed his playboy ways when he was lost on a mysterious island in Asia for five years. Back from being presumed dead, heavily scarred, and gifted with dangerous skills and secrets, Oliver's alter-ego Arrow sets out to take down the criminals, corrupt politicians, and businessmen that have control of his city.
At the same time Oliver has to navigate the perils of his social life, with a private defense lawyer ex-girl friend named Laurel Lance, Laurel's police detective father Quentin Lance, and Oliver's best friend Tommy. At home, Oliver has to hide his true identity as a vigilante from his mother Moira, her new husband Walter Steele, his troubled younger sister Thea, and his bodyguard John Diggle. The complicated family dynamics, and Arrow's quest for vengeance have the potential to make this an intriguingly dark and complex comic-book inspired action show.
