Outlander: In the Forest

This series is winding down. I could almost hear the producers discussing what major plot threads, or in this case, fishing lines, were as yet untied. Oh, yes. William still hates Jamie. Gotta fix that one.

So here's the situation. (Spoilers for the Outlander episode "Evidence of Things Not Seen" below. Please go read my review of the episode first!)

Outlander: Blessed Are the Merciful

"It is a wise man indeed who listens to his wife."

Wise, indeed.

Outlander: Send for the Devil

"I think it will be an evil night."

Well, it was a dark and stormy night, at the very least. They don't usually go for such obvious symbolism, but this time they really went for it. There were also many references to prayer, good and evil, God and the Devil. Everyone thinks God is on their side in a battle, don't they?

Outlander: Muskets, Liberty, and Sauerkraut

"Monsieur Beauchamp told me what every orphan wants to hear, that I'm the son of a great man. But I'm already the son of a great man."

That is one of my favorite lines from the books. Can we all go "awwwwww" together?

Outlander: Abies Fraseri

"If honesty turns out to be a double-edged sword, well, I think the wounds tend to be worth it."

The opening scene showed us that Fanny Pocock is smart, observant, strong-willed, and stands up for herself. Who does that sound like?

Outlander: Prophecies

This had better not be foreshadowing.

Outlander: Soul of a Rebel

"We wanted to come home."

A lot of exposition. A lot of set-up for our final season. Standard for Outlander.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood is a spinoff series about Jamie's parents Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser (eighteenth century), and Claire's parents Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp (twentieth century). This prequel series was created by Matt Roberts, the showrunner for most of Outlander's run. It is not based on the many Outlander novels, novellas and short stories; Diana Gabaldon mentions these two couples only briefly.

Billie Doux is writing a review of the first season. The second season will arrive on Starz on September 18, 2026.

Outlander Novella Review: Virgins
