Death comes for us all eventually. Unless you're a new character on a popular TV show and the producers take a shine to you and decide to keep you around, in which case Death is told to get lost and only come back when the actor asks for a pay bump or time off so they can make some movies.

Five TV Shows That Suffered From Network Interference
by
Lamounier
Wouldn't it be a fun world if networks just gave creative freedom to creators and showrunners? Sure, sometimes corporate executives know better what to do with someone else's story (one out of fifty times), but in most occasions their meddling is of no help. Let's take a look below at some shows that struggled with network interference and just how much it affected them.
Warning: spoilers follow.

The Walking Dead: Wrath

"My mercy prevails over my wrath."
Wow. The Walking Dead just shocked me more than it ever has since Season 5, by doing the one thing I didn't expect them to do: tell a good, strong story without resorting to cheap shock tactics.

"Just wanted to say a grateful enclave thanks you!"
If I were to choose a descriptor for the entire Saviors arc of The Walking Dead, it would be "wasted opportunity". We are drowning in wasted opportunities. Why couldn't we have been enjoying episodes like this from the off? Why did everything need to be stretched and pulled into long, ponderous scenes devoid of tension when we could have had episodes like this? Because this episode was pretty damn great.

"Did you really think that cockamamie play would work?"
We saw an uptick in quality last episode. I didn't expect it to last forever, but couldn't it have lasted for more than that single episode?

"The dead have brought out our best and worst, and the worst has been outpacing the best lately, but that won't last forever."
When I saw the infamous, faux-artsy "face montage" at the start of this episode, I thought we'd be in for a slog not unlike the mid-season finale. However, I was wrong. I'm happy to say this episode was a marked improvement, even if it did have some of the same problems that have been plaguing The Walking Dead like a zombie virus for a while now.

"He was helping a stranger. In the middle of all this, he was helping a stranger."
Not quite as interesting as last week, although the plot is at least moving forward.

"You could have just let me save all of you. I mean, that's why I killed your friends in the first place."
I'm not feeling The Walking Dead these days. And this episode didn't help.

A pause of sorts, a moment of reflection, the eye of the storm before the final battle, choose your cliche. There were also some really enjoyable dramatic moments, and a few that made me laugh.

"Good meeting, people. Now let's make today the best today it can be."
Apparently, office politics will survive the apocalypse. That's discouraging.

"If you're asked to be the hero, be the hero."
I've been brooding about this episode since I saw it last night, and not in a positive way. (Is there a good way to brood?)

"We will lose not one of our ranks."
Another episode about the moral choices in war. Or more accurately, about how our heroes aren't on the same page when it comes to those choices.
