Jessica Jones: AKA Everything

Jessica: "Don't try to be a hero. It's a shitty job."

It is indeed a shitty job, full of sadness and loss. But it would be completely out of character for the series finale of Jessica Jones to end in sweetness and light.

Jessica Jones: AKA A Lotta Worms

Malcolm, to Trish: "Do you ever miss the person you used to be?"

By nature I love brevity: A really well-constructed, hard-hitting episode. We really got to see the full extent of what Jessica is capable of here, and it was awesome to see. And, of course, that finale setup. Whoo boy, this is gonna be a tough one.

Jessica Jones: AKA Hellcat

"I've got this."

For the second time this season, Jessica Jones pulls the 'Let's see all that from someone else's perspective' trick. Once again, the second perspective is Trish's. Once again, it really, really works.

Jessica Jones: AKA Hero Pants

“No one’s ever who you need them to be.”

I’ve never been much of a gamer but this show continually brings the D&D alignments to mind. Jessica is the epitome of chaotic good. Good guys should be rewarded and the bad guys should be punished, laws be damned. Her only problem is determining good from bad.

Jessica Jones: AKA I Did Something Today

"Despite the everything on my side, the good, the right, they still win."

When Trish's failed attack on Salinger potentially exposes her to the public, Jessica has to help - but how? Meanwhile, Jeri has another potential avenue to Kith in an episode which shows how moral ambiguity can damage those who would be heroes.

Jessica Jones: AKA Camera Ready

"The operative word here is 'friendly'."

Jessica Jones avoids the traditional Netflix mid-season lag: A.K.A. Do not read this review until you've watched the episode.

Jessica Jones: AKA The Double Half-Wappinger

Jessica: "Road trip."
Trish: "Exciting."

Publicity and truth, fairness and unfairness, definitely a theme. Jessica is a hero and Sallinger is a serial killer, but they aren't seen that way by the public.

Jessica Jones: AKA Sorry Face

"I’ll come down when you’re ready for my official statement. 'Til then, I’ll be drunk."

Man, this season is really clipping along now that things are moving.

Jessica Jones: AKA I Wish

“I choose you.”

In a tense and even gruesome episode, Jessica Jones and Trish begin working together to collect information about the man who’s holding every card.

Jessica Jones: AKA Customer Service is Standing By

“Any time you try and make something better, it’s 50-50 you’ll make it worse.”

Or, the one where Jessica meets the Big Bad and Trish gets her big shot.

Jessica Jones: AKA I Have No Spleen

"My name on your case file does not make me a victim."

Jessica Jones is forced to confront her own vulnerability.

You can imagine how well that goes.

Jessica Jones: AKA You're Welcome

"I've got it covered."

Notably absent for the majority of the preceding episode, Trish’s journey from unfulfilled sidekick to stubborn (and slightly ineffective) hero is explored in ‘AKA You’re Welcome,’ an hour that shifts focus on to the woman that Trish believes to be the more undervalued half of the Jessica/Patsy duo. With Krysten Ritter in the director’s chair, the hour explores some interesting facets of Trish’s character, though it doesn’t completely justify the lag in momentum due to a rehashing of events we’ve already seen play out.

Jessica Jones: AKA The Perfect Burger

Jessica: "I hate heroism."

Seeing that the third season of Jessica Jones consists of the final installments into the Marvel-Netflix series, something in me reckons that the least Netflix could have done was let this universe go out with a little bit of dignity. It was only the week before this season's launch that we finally got our first trailer, and the marketing overall of this season has been exceedingly minimal, as if this series suddenly felt akin to Super Mario Bros and Netflix is an ashamed Bob Hoskins ultimately leaving the title off his resume.

Jessica Jones: AKA Playland

"We only get one mother. That's a powerful bond, no matter how batshit crazy they might be."

A strong ending. I wish it had been less predictable, though.

Jessica Jones: AKA Pray for my Patsy

Chasing your dreams can be deadly. Especially when a creep with a science hard-on promises to make them real.

Trish is semi-conscious after being rescued from whatever weird science was played on her; meanwhile, Alisa steps into rampage mode when she discovers Karl's death.

Jessica Jones: AKA Three Lives and Counting

"I'm not a killer."

Jessica had a psychotic break. Trish's descent hit rock bottom. Malcolm was caught in the middle (no pun intended). Karl's attempt to do the right thing caused Alisa to have the mother of all rage spirals. And I was a puddle on the floor.

Jessica Jones: AKA Pork Chop

“The moral of my shitty story is – if your dead parent comes back to life, stick em back in the ground.”

Jessica Jones: AKA Shark in the Bathtub, Monster in the Bed

"This is how I get my mom."

In a riveting episode of Jessica Jones, our hero struggles to come to terms with her mother and with herself. Meanwhile, Patsy's still struggling with the effects of the inhaler, and there's a detective knocked out in the bathtub.

Jessica Jones: AKA Ain't We Got Fun

"That thing you made is not my mother."

Mother and daughter bonding with snipers and a basement dungeon. You ain't getting that from This is Us.

Jessica Jones season two doubles down on its commitment to messy and complicated relationships in an episode that left me very unclear who the actual villain is.

Jessica Jones: AKA I Want Your Cray Cray

"Call me a bitch again. Compare me to a dog. An animal that you can kick and collar. Say it."

Flashback episodes can be dangerous. Done right, they can provide context and fill in plot holes. Done badly, they can make a show or the characters appear inconsistent. This episode did a little of both.
