This Week: It has Abed from Community

I decided to watch Suits LA when it premiered on Sunday. I liked Stephen Amell a lot on Arrow, I liked the original show, the original creator is doing it, it seemed like a good time.

This Week: The Fourth Best Indiana Jones Movie

What has everyone been watching lately? I haven’t watched a ton of TV outside of football or football-related true crime. I have a few things coming out around Valentine’s Day that I’m really excited about, though, like The Gorge for Apple TV. I’m always a sucker for Anya Taylor-Joy.

Doux Top Twenty! Number 18: Dexter

Dexter is number 18 in the Doux top twenty hitting shows.

I remember back in 2006, everyone was talking about a brand-new show called Dexter and telling me I had to try it, while I was certain it wasn't for me. A sympathetic serial killer? Come on. And then there was a Showtime free trial, and I succumbed and tried it. I was wrong and "everyone" was right.

Five Shows That Struggled Without Their Creators

Meet the new boss. Unfortunately, they really weren't the same as the old boss, which caused nothing but problems for these five classic shows.

Five (And More) Ubiquitous Dead TV Characters*

*As in those characters who died either before or at the very beginning of a series, but continued to be a major presence throughout its run.

Dexter: Remember the Monsters?

Dexter: "You made me look at myself."
Saxon: "And what did you see?"
Dexter: "A trail of blood and body parts."

Not the end I expected, and I'm certain it'll be controversial with the fans, but it got to me.

Dexter: Monkey in a Box

"I never thought this day would come. You don't need me any more."

Dexter: Goodbye Miami

"People get what they deserve. At least they should."

Dexter: Make Your Own Kind of Music

"You know that won't end well."

So we had a distinct theme: Vogel warning Dexter about the near impossibility of straddling two different worlds. And we had a lot of characters who thought they could do it, no problem.

Dexter: Are We There Yet?

Deb: "Are you on top of it, or are you on top of her?"

"Dress Code" had me a little worried. "Are We There Yet?" alleviated that worry completely. This week's episode was funny, sexy, weird, creepy, and it changed direction so many times that I have no idea what to expect from here on out.

Dexter: Dress Code

"Can anything good come from putting two killers together?"

Did Dexter do anything right in this episode? Anything at all?

Dexter: A Little Reflection

"Maybe the Morgans just aren't meant for relationships."

Dexter returns! (to Doux Reviews)

As I've posted in several spots, Time Warner Cable and CBS have teamed up to screw over their customers by declaring war, depriving me, as a Los Angeles cable customer, of the final season of Dexter. I only subscribe to Showtime to get Dexter, and I've been frustrated and furious about this.

Dexter: This Little Piggy

"Well, the family that kills together..."

This episode was like a Dexter season one fantasy come true.

Dexter: Scar Tissue

Harry: "What if this has all been a horrible mistake?"

The focus this season appears to be Dexter's capacity to love. This is something they've hinted at and written around and I've always wanted them to explore it in depth. So good move, Dexter writers – you made Billie happy!

Dexter: What's Eating Dexter Morgan?

Dexter: "I consume everyone I love."

I must have the last season blues, because I keep worrying about Dexter.

Dexter: Every Silver Lining...

Dexter: "I don't take requests."

Wake up and smell the twisted shrink, Dexter!

Dexter: A Beautiful Day

Deb: "I shot the wrong person in that trailer."

And we're back!
