The fate of Doctor Who is revealed! Sort of...

Well, the BBC has finally released an official statement on the future of Doctor Who, and it's simultaneously a big update and also no news whatsoever.

Fortunately, if there's a fanbase fully prepared for this sort of thing, it's Doctor Who fans.

NewsFlash: Buffy Reboot is Toast

Sarah Michelle Gellar has posted on her Instagram account that Hulu has nixed the Buffy reboot. And with the perfect bit of wit, she followed up with "I promise if the apocalypse actually comes, you can still beep me."

And of course, there was the requisite "It could still happen." But we know that doesn't usually happen.

NewsFlash: Buffy Revival Coming to Hulu

Earlier this week, we got the news that a Buffy reboot is in the works at Hulu. After a couple of days of mildly feverish discussion in the Doux writers room, a second article surfaced informing us of Sarah Michelle Gellar's reasons for supporting this particular revival and of everyone's good intentions.

Interview with the Vampire Season Three... Already Teased!

The absolutely fabulous second season of Interview with the Vampire just wrapped up a few weeks ago and while we had gotten a season three announcement and the general idea of what they were going for, it felt like a ways off before we would get anything else.

I was so wrong.

The new Doctor Who trailer has arrived! Let's Discuss!

November still feels a long way off, but the promotion for Doctor Who's three 60th anniversary specials is slowly beginning. It's about time.

NewsFlash: Outlander Will End With Season Eight

It had to happen sometime, but I'm not sure I'm ready. It was just announced that Outlander will end with season eight.

A Handmaid's Tale Update and Apology

The fifth season of The Handmaid's Tale began airing today. If you have been kind enough to read my reviews in the past, I wanted to let you know that I won't be reviewing season five. At least not right now. Here's why.

Our 10,000th Post

As mentioned earlier this week, Doux Reviews is about to hit 10,000 posts. Or it was. Now it is. This one is it.

Virtual champagne. That is all!

Doctor Who: Season 13 Announcement

"Listen carefully. We don't have much time."

The Doctor is coming back, and we finally know exactly when.

The Matrix 4: Teasers - With Trailer (Updated)

"No one can be told what the Matrix is, you have to see it for yourself."

In two days we will be getting the first trailer for the latest installment of The Matrix saga. However, in the meantime there is an incredibly clever marketing strategy that I have to share.

NewsFlash: Strange New Worlds

Hit it!

Season two of Star Trek: Discovery featured Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Ethan Peck as Mr. Spock and Rebecca Romijn as Number One, characters from Gene Roddenberry's first, failed Star Trek pilot back in 1965. These three actors and how they played these iconic roles were a huge hit with fans – including me – and we've been hoping for an announcement of a spinoff for what? A year and a half, now?

Star Wars Episode IX Teaser Trailer

Star Wars is coming to an end. The final chapter in the Skywalker Saga that began in 1977 by George Lucas is only eight months away. There was very little information about the film beyond casting rumors and the return of J.J. Abrams as director. That changed today.

Not exactly a Newsflash

So... the final season of Game of Thrones begins on Sunday, April 14. I don't watch it, but even I am thinking it's been an awfully long time since the last season. Has it? It has, hasn't it?

IGN has explained how the timeline of the new Picard Star Trek series is going to work with the Next Gen movies and the J.J. Abrams movies. Essentially, it's not; there are going to be two universes. I'm a lifelong Star Trek fan (I hate the word 'trekkie') and even I'm confused.

Newsflash: Lucifer rescued by Netflix!

We've just learned that Netflix has rescued Lucifer. TVLine says that we'll be getting a ten-episode season four.

Woo hoo! Season three had been sort of plodding along, but the last two episodes of the season were amazing and I've been dying to know what happens next. So I'm a happy camper. (Let me clarify that I'm talking about "Quintessential Deckerstar" and "A Devil of My Word," not the two episodes released after the cancellation.) I'm also already fantasizing about the possibility of Lucifer unleashed, as in less censorship.

NewsFlash: Cancelled!

Sadly, Lucifer has been cancelled after three seasons. And apparently, they're going to leave us with a cliffhanger.

And we're not getting the Wayward Sisters spinoff.

About this Joss Whedon thing

This site, Doux Reviews, is here because of Joss Whedon. I felt compelled to start reviewing television shows because of my obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a show that Whedon created. Right now, the internet is buzzing with reaction to a letter written by Whedon's ex-wife stating that he cheated on her during their marriage, causing her tremendous stress, and that because of this, Whedon isn't a feminist. (No link from me. It's everywhere. Feel free to Google.)

And the thirteenth Doctor is...

And the BBC has announced that the thirteenth Doctor is... Jodie Whittaker. They did it. They picked a woman. Brava. She'll take over for Peter Capaldi during this December's Christmas special.

I've seen Jodie Whittaker in Broadchurch and the movie Attack the Block, and this is fine with me. Honestly, I was sort of hoping against hope for Sleepy Hollow's Tom Mison, but this is quite cool. We also have the departure of showrunner Steven Moffat and the advent of Chris Chibnall. Will these drastic changes energize the franchise? What do you all think of this development?

NewsFlash: Continuum gets a fourth and final season

FINALLY!

After keeping us waiting since the beginning of freaking August, we have finally gotten word via Hollywood Reporter that Continuum is getting a brief fourth and final season. Six episodes. Yes, I want more, and yes, it's not enough, but at least creator Simon Barry will be able to give us an end to this fabulous time travel series.
