Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. (1966)

“We'll have to bypass Watford. The place is full of Daleks!”

Peter Cushing's second (and final) adventure as Dr. Who is a bigger and more cinematic outing than its predecessor, escaping the confines of the studio for a hectic runaround the backlot.

The fate of Doctor Who is revealed! Sort of...

Well, the BBC has finally released an official statement on the future of Doctor Who, and it's simultaneously a big update and also no news whatsoever.

Fortunately, if there's a fanbase fully prepared for this sort of thing, it's Doctor Who fans.

Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965)

“You are different from them and they are afraid of anything different. And what people are afraid of, they try to destroy.”

As with most things Doctor Who, this all leads back to Quatermass.

Mark's Best of 2025

Seasons greetings, faithful readers, and welcome to what could loosely be called my best of 2025.

Juliette's Best of 2025

I am writing this through a fog of flu, so here’s hoping it all makes some kind of sense! As ever, my body has reached the end of the year and given up, and there are some nasty flu strains around this year. But the big news is that I am going part time at my main job next year, to be available for school runs and teacher training days, and to spend more time on writing and content creation, so with any luck I might finish next year with a tiny bit more energy!

Anyway, on to the Best of 2025…

The War Between the Land and the Sea: A Prelude

This will not be a review of the first two episodes of the Doctor Who spinoff, The War Between the Land and the Sea.

This is mostly down to the fact that I haven't been able to see it yet. Which helps, when reviewing.

Classic Doctor Who on Youtube

Starting in late 2024, a BBC-operated YouTube channel Doctor Who: Classic has been posting full serials of numerous classic era adventures. It would seem that the BBC has decided that there's not much additional value to be mined from the classic era, since everything had long been released on physical media (VHS, DVD, etc), or on free channels like Pluto.TV, or on demand on Britbox, so for all intents and purposes they're now giving it away. (For the moment, at least.)

Doctor Who: The Space Pirates

Only you can prevent space piracy.
Gunsmoke by way of 2001: A Space Odyssey – for the kiddies

Season Six, Serial Six (production code YY)

Starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor
with Frazer Hines (Jamie) and Wendy Padbury (Zoe)

Doctor Who: The Wheel in Space

Up to 75% less screaming involved.
You know our ways.

Season Five, Serial Seven (production code SS)

Starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor
with Frazer Hines (Jamie) and introducing Wendy Padbury (Zoe)

Doctor Who: Fury from the Deep

"Baby baby can't you hear my heartbeat..."
Victoria hates it here so much she could just SCREEEEEAM.

Season Five, Story 6 (Story Code RR)

Starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor
with Frazer Hines (Jamie) and Deborah Watling (Victoria)

Doctor Who: The Web of Fear

"Maybe I didn't want to be a scientist after all..."
Just when Johnny thought he was old enough to ride the Tube alone...

Season Five, Story 5 (Story Code QQ)

Starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor
with Frazer Hines (Jamie) and Deborah Watling (Victoria)

Doctor Who: The Reality War

"Well, now you're going too far."

OK, that was a lot. And then a second helping of 'a lot.' With 'a lot' sprinkles on top.

You just know there's about to be a spoiler manatee.

Doctor Who: Wish World

"And now, it's time for today's story. 'Doctor Who and the Deadly Wish.'"

Part one of the two-part finale for this season of Doctor Who is definitively not messing around. And, against all odds, I really liked it.

Doctor Who: The Interstellar Song Contest

"This is the greatest song contest in the universe, so as you would say – let’s raise the roof!"

Doctor Who offers up what's promised to be an entertaining, if fluffy, throwaway romp, but instead turns out to be a thoughtful meditation on the effects of weaponized bigotry with a few massive reveals thrown in toward the end.

One wonders what Rylan made of it.

Doctor Who: The Story and the Engine

"The Doctor! We need him now! It needs feeding!"

Doctor Who goes somewhere we've never been before, gives us a breathtaking study on the power of stories, community, heartbreak, the feeling of abandonment, and the grace of forgiveness. And I don't know if I'm qualified to talk about any of it.

But let's give it a shot.

Doctor Who: Lucky Day

"Biscuit got the fright of his life!"

Where to even begin talking about this one?

This Week: Literally Nothing I Can't Tie Back to Doctor Who

Mikey Heinrich: OK, so lately my only real night of appointment TV is Ghosts and Elsbeth which air Thursdays on CBS. And by night, I do mean that I get around to streaming them sometime Friday or Saturday.

Regardless, this week the new episode of Ghosts was titled "I Know What You Did Thirty-Seven Summers Ago" and the new episode of Elsbeth is titled "I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago" and apparently, according to every online source I can think to look at, it's just a complete coincidence.

Doctor Who: The Well

"It came from the well. It came out of the well and we don’t know how to stop it!"

The Doctor and Belinda continue their quest to find their way back to May 24, 2025. Things do not go according to plan. That's as much as you should know before you watch this episode.

Doctor Who: Lux

"I’ve toppled worlds. Sometimes I wait for people to topple the world. Until then, I live in it, and I shine."

The Doctor trips the light fandango. Or at least the light fan-psychotico. Actually, the light kind of trips him. There are fans, though.

Doctor Who: The Robot Revolution

"You lot. Forgive. Rebuild. Maybe change the name of the solar system."

The new season of Doctor Who has arrived, bringing with it a new companion, new adventures, and a newly acquired lack of focus as to what exactly it wants to be.
