Greetings, Doux-ers! Which always sounds like "Dewars" in my head and makes me think of scotch, even though all I have in the house right now is champagne. I'm the lucky one because I get to post my year in review last, after enjoying (and cribbing off of) the clever previous contributions of my friends and fellow writers here at Doux Reviews.

2014: The Year in Review

Greeting Doux-axians,

I have returned from 2023 to today, late December 2014, to deliver my contributions to the annual year-ending posts. As you will all no doubt remember, this was all tied up in my career as a combination Cultural Critic, Looper and Bison rancher (just check my June 2014 post for the details, it’s too complicated to go into here). All that exposition done, let’s get on with my 2014 post.

2013 is almost over (thank God!) so it’s time for an end of the year rundown.

Laure's Best of 2013

Twenty thirteen, I hardly knew ye. It’s surreal that it’s almost over.

This is my first year end post and I hadn’t been preparing for it at all. Since I’m still a novice here at Doux Reviews, I am going to attempt to provide a quickish rundown of what I spend my time watching every week instead of the traditional “best of.” 2013 hasn’t been a bad year between television and me. I got great continuations of stories that I love plus a few new shows to sweeten the deal. Here is the good, the bad and the wastes of time.

Mark's Best of 2013

At first, I wanted to do something a little different this year. But I soon realised that that would require me to actually think of something different, so I ultimately decided against it. This is Christmas. It's not a time for thinking. It's a time for stuffing your face and saying "Thank you, it's just what I wanted" with absolute sincerity. So I ultimately settled for just doing the exact same thing I did last year.

2013 was an odd year for me personally, and I as I’ve been putting this list together I can see how my anomie has affected what I have—and what I haven’t—enjoyed both on-screen and off. This list might say more in what it doesn’t contain than what it does. Yet here we go...

Oh Zeus. Another year has gone by. Note to my friends and family – I am no longer celebrating birthdays. However, should anyone wish to spontaneously give me presents for no reason on or around 4th February, they should feel free to do so.

Whenever I do one of these year-end wrap-up articles, I'm always struck with just how many freaking movies I see in a year. Of course, that number has dwindled slightly over the years. There was a time when I went nearly every week, sometimes twice. This year, I only got a chance to see 29 in the theater. I know, totally lazy.

Chris's 2013 Year In Review

I tend to spend a fair amount of time wringing my hands over the appalling state of television these days. Thanks in part to the large amount of horror I have watched for the New Shows column, I bemoan the plethora of reality shows and other junk cluttering up our airwaves.

This is my first year in review and I haven't been journaling or even paying attention most of the time so this will be a retrospective look at the television and movies I have liked, disliked and those I've watched even though I know things are bad and probably getting worse.
