Doux Top Twenty! Number 13: Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is number 13 on Doux Reviews' list of top twenty hitting shows.

I watched Breaking Bad (2008-2013) from the beginning, raved about it to my friends, and kept telling myself I didn’t have time to review it. I was already reviewing a bunch of other shows and just couldn’t take on another.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

“Only you can decide what’s best for you, Jesse.”

An epilogue, bitch! I didn't realize how much I needed this in my life.

Five (And More) TV Characters Who Were Meant to Die

Death comes for us all eventually. Unless you're a new character on a popular TV show and the producers take a shine to you and decide to keep you around, in which case Death is told to get lost and only come back when the actor asks for a pay bump or time off so they can make some movies.

Five Shows that Were a Bear to Review

It's safe to say that I've written a whole lot of reviews. Thousands, even, and that's just Supernatural... no, I'm kidding, but it really does number in the thousands.

Billie's Best of 2013

Greetings, Doux-ers! Which always sounds like "Dewars" in my head and makes me think of scotch, even though all I have in the house right now is champagne. I'm the lucky one because I get to post my year in review last, after enjoying (and cribbing off of) the clever previous contributions of my friends and fellow writers here at Doux Reviews.

Mark's Best of 2013

At first, I wanted to do something a little different this year. But I soon realised that that would require me to actually think of something different, so I ultimately decided against it. This is Christmas. It's not a time for thinking. It's a time for stuffing your face and saying "Thank you, it's just what I wanted" with absolute sincerity. So I ultimately settled for just doing the exact same thing I did last year.

Profitez de mes amis.

Oh, and beware the Spoiler Kitten if you don't watch any of the shows in the tags but might want to someday.

Josie’s Best of 2013

2013 was an odd year for me personally, and I as I’ve been putting this list together I can see how my anomie has affected what I have—and what I haven’t—enjoyed both on-screen and off. This list might say more in what it doesn’t contain than what it does. Yet here we go...

Breaking Bad: Felina

"I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was really... I was alive."

I wasn't sure what I wanted to see in a finale for a show as exceptional as Breaking Bad: something unexpected? one final, awesome twist? Or for Walt to succeed in going out on his own terms like the anti-hero he is?

Breaking Bad: Granite State

"Why are you still alive? Why don't you just die already?"

This was a bridge episode, intended to take us from the utter devastation of "Ozymandias" to the flashforward at the beginning of the season. And it most certainly did its job.

Breaking Bad: Ozymandias

Hank: "You're the smartest man I ever met, and you're too stupid to see he made up his mind ten minutes ago."

Before the final episodes began this summer, there was a Breaking Bad promo that consisted entirely of Bryan Cranston reciting the poem "Ozymandias" by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Now we know what this promo was for.

Breaking Bad: To'hajiilee

"The kid is not as dumb as you think."

Geez, don't destroy the fans with a killer cliffhanger or anything, huh?

Breaking Bad: Rabid Dog

"We've come this far for us. What's one more?"

Breaking Bad: Confessions

"So. How 'bout that guacamole?"

One of the big continuing questions in this series has always been, does Walt truly care about Jesse?

Breaking Bad: Buried

Walt: "Please don't let me have done all this for nothing."

Breaking Bad: Blood Money

Walt: "There is nothing left for us to do except to try to live ordinary, decent lives."

What a shocker. I'm still picking my jaw up off the floor. If this is just episode one, what will the series finale be like?

New Shows (2013): July 29 - August 4

The Zorb Ball
A RIDE-iculous Event
Like so much of the rest of the world, the networks are having a break in August and airing fewer new shows. For clarity, I have listed the new shows in the order they originally aired. I am also now listing the day and time the show aired in case it is something you would care to watch. The color code has changed again. Black means I didn’t watch it; red means don’t bother; blue means maybe; green means good; magenta means great.
