Firstly and very importantly, I write this from my own point of view. My fellow Agents of DOUX may not feel the same and I do absolutely respect their opinions on this delicate matter as well as your own. It’s a point of pride that the comments section of this site is a safe place where people can express differing opinions politely and I’d like everyone to keep that in mind before they comment.

This site, Doux Reviews, is here because of Joss Whedon. I felt compelled to start reviewing television shows because of my obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a show that Whedon created. Right now, the internet is buzzing with reaction to a letter written by Whedon's ex-wife stating that he cheated on her during their marriage, causing her tremendous stress, and that because of this, Whedon isn't a feminist. (No link from me. It's everywhere. Feel free to Google.)

An Hour of Jossy Goodness

For those of us who love television, and especially for those of us who write about it, there are many aspects of the medium we have explored. We have discussed why shows rise and fall; we have discussed the actors who play the roles we tune in to watch every week; we have discussed plot lines and tried to guess where the stories are going. The seminal change in how we discuss television, however, is that we now know who is producing the shows and we follow shows based on where those people we respect and admire turn up.

In Your Eyes

"The best thing, the only thing, about me that I like is you."

A new Joss Whedon film is always cause for excitement. Right after his latest, In Your Eyes, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, it became available to download and rent online. Huh, interesting. Is this a new idea in releasing films more widely (think Veronica Mars) or is it because Whedon, as the executive producer, realized that $5 a pop from his most rabid fans would be about what this film could garner?

Much Ado About Nothing
